Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney joins Lidl-Trek through 2028

Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney will change teams in 2027. Lidl-Trek has just announced the signing of the Polish cyclist, who will join their women's structure next season with a two-year contract, until the end of 2028.

At 32 years old, Niewiadoma-Phinney will face one of the most significant changes of her career after spending many years within the same structure. The winner of the Tour de France Femmes 2024 acknowledges that it was precisely that stability that made the decision to change teams particularly difficult.

“I am very excited about the next two years. I have spent many years on the same team, and the decision to move forward and change environments was not easy until I spoke with Lidl-Trek. I immediately felt that the team had a plan, confidence, and believed in me,” explains the Polish cyclist.

Niewiadoma-Phinney arrives at Lidl-Trek as one of the most established riders in the international peloton. Her greatest success came in the Tour de France Femmes 2024, when she managed to defend the yellow jersey on the final day finishing in Alpe d'Huez and won the overall classification by just four seconds.

Her palmarès also includes victories in races such as La Flèche Wallonne and Amstel Gold Race, while in 2026 she was again a protagonist in the Tour with a stage win at Mont Ventoux and second place in the overall classification. According to data provided by Lidl-Trek, she has stood on the podium in all editions of the Tour de France Femmes held since 2022.

Her signing provides Lidl-Trek with another leader to tackle both the Grand Tours and the Classics. Additionally, the Polish cyclist will once again share a team with Riejanne Markus, with whom she coincided a decade ago at WM3.

“I am looking forward to working with people and professionals who have a new vision of my abilities and what we can achieve together. I want to learn from the team, see what we can improve, how we can be faster, and how we can raise our arms more often when crossing the finish line,” assures Niewiadoma-Phinney.

Frank Schleck, head of the women's team at Lidl-Trek, particularly highlights her offensive character as one of the reasons for the signing. “Kasia is brave, aggressive, and willing to take on responsibilities and create the race instead of just waiting for it to happen,” he explains.

The contract will extend over the 2027 and 2028 seasons, a period in which Lidl-Trek hopes to leverage both her ability to compete in the main races on the calendar and her experience within a squad that combines established cyclists and young talents.
