Jenny Rissveds sweeps the European Championship and conquers the double in Short Track and XCO
After her resounding victory in the Short Track on Friday, Jenny Rissveds arrived as the clear favorite for the main event of the European XCO Championship 2025. And she did not disappoint. The Swedish cyclist offered an exhibition of power, control, and determination on a circuit without major climbs or technical sections, but with a constant up and down sprinkled with roots and rocks that demanded maximum concentration at every meter.
The race, scheduled for seven laps plus an initial loop, started with a clean and compact start. But the calm didn't last long. Already in the first lap, Rissveds launched a lightning attack that none of her rivals could follow. From there, the Swede built a growing advantage that continued to increase lap after lap, despite suffering some minor setbacks when getting caught in technical sections of the course.

Behind, the battle for the podium was led by a trio of high level with British Evie Richards, Italian Martina Berta, and Swiss Nicole Koller. While Rissveds extended her lead to 45 seconds in the fourth lap, it was Richards who tried to break the dynamic of the chasing group. Her acceleration only found a response in Nicole Keller, leaving behind a Martina Berta who could not keep up with the pace.

The fifth lap consolidated the positions. Rissveds continued to lead, with over a minute of advantage, while Berta began to definitively fall behind. The battle for the silver intensified even more with two laps to go, when Koller attacked to drop Richards, but the British rider responded firmly and countered, making a difference this time.
In the final lap, and despite a new technical incident that forced Rissveds to dismount, nothing could tarnish her undeniable dominance. She crossed the finish line with a clear advantage and her arms raised to be proclaimed European XCO Champion 2025, achieving a historic double after her gold in the Short Track.
Behind, Evie Richards resisted Keller's last attempt to close the gap and took a well-deserved silver medal. Swiss Nicole Koller, third, completed a podium of enormous quality in a race where Rissveds once again showed why she is one of the great stars of international MTB.
