Jenny Rissveds dominates in Mont-Sainte-Anne and Maxwell wins the General Classification
The Swedish Jenny Rissveds (Canyon CLLCTV XCO) closed a dream season with a crushing victory in the XCO World Cup at Mont-Sainte-Anne 2025, imposing herself with the largest difference between first and second in recent history. More than three minutes behind, the New Zealander Samara Maxwell (Decathlon Ford Racing Team) crossed the finish line, unable to match the devastating pace of the world champion, but securing the overall victory. The podium was completed by Evie Richards, third after an intense battle with Sina Frei and Alessandra Keller.
Jenny Rissveds puts on a show from the first lap
The race started at a very high pace and in an unbeatable setting: sun, 15 degrees, and a dedicated audience in the farewell, for now, of Mont-Sainte-Anne as a World Cup venue, which will be replaced by Whistler in 2026. From the start loop, Jenny Rissveds made it clear that she did not want to speculate: she attacked at a pace and within minutes already had an 11-second lead over her pursuers.
By the end of the first lap, the lead exceeded half a minute and in the second lap, it shot up to over a minute. The Swedish rider ran a true time trial, maintaining a cadence and concentration that no one else could match. Behind her, Samara Maxwell tried to follow her trail, but a small mistake hitting a tree with the handlebar marked the beginning of her resignation: the victory was already out of reach.

At the halfway point of the race, Rissveds already had a lead of over two minutes and continued to extend it lap after lap. The excitement then shifted to the battle for third place, where Sina Frei, Evie Richards, and Alessandra Keller engaged in a vibrant exchange of attacks. In the end, it was Frei who emerged victorious in that duel.
In the final kilometers, Rissveds simply managed her lead with the serenity of someone who knows they are experiencing a historic moment. She crossed the finish line alone, smiling and with the crowd on their feet, completing what was probably the most dominant performance of the entire season.
With this victory, Jenny Rissveds closes one of the best seasons of her career with 9 wins in the World Cup, 2 European golds (XCO and XCC), and the Cross Country World Championship won in September.
Meanwhile, Samara Maxwell fulfilled and secured the overall victory in the World Cup. The first for New Zealand and also the first for her team (Decathlon Ford Racing)
