Javier Gómez Noya signs for Orbea
With five Triathlon World Championships, an Olympic medal and four European Championships, among numerous other achievements, Javier Gómez Noya is the best Spanish triathlete of all time and one of the best in the history of the sport. In 2022 he will make the leap to long distance and we have just been informed that he will do so with Orbea.
Orbea and Gómez Noya join forces for the next years
After ending his time at the Olympic distance, Javier Gómez Noya announced something that fans have been waiting for a long time, his jump to the long-distance in triathlon. In 2022, the Spanish triathlete will be targeting qualification for the Long-Distance World Championships, the Kona Ironman or the World Championship Ironman of St. George. And he will do all of them on the new Orbea Ordu.
A year ago Orbea presented its renewed Ordu, the specific model for triathlon with which Gómez Noya will compete in the coming seasons. But it won't be the only Orbea on which we will see him, as he will combine training with the recently presented Orca Aero and also in MTB, on an Orbea Oiz.

“The bike has been one of the main reasons that prompted me to change. I feel very comfortable on the Ordu, undoubtedly an essential factor for medium- and long-distance races,” said Go?mez Noya during the presentation.
“It’s an honor to announce our alliance with an athlete like Javier, but it’s even more exciting after experiencing the synergy that exists between the two of us. At Orbea, we tend to seek close, valuable and lasting relationships that go beyond mere sponsorships. Without a doubt, this is one of those examples,” said In?aki Uci?n, Orbea’s Sports Marketing Manager. “In addition, Javier will also contribute all of his experience and knowledge to push the development of our products for both triathlon and road,” he concluded.
“From the first communication I had with Orbea, I felt a very good inclination and commitment on their part to join paths and, on my part, to give the best of myself in this new stage focused on long distance. I am excited to continue my athletic career with such an iconic Spanish bike brand,” said the triathlete.
The first competition in which we will see Gómez Noya on his new Orbea will be next January 9 at the Ironman 70.3 in Pucón, Chile.
