"It's not for everyone, but there's nothing like it": the competition aluminum returns with the new Cannondale CAAD14
Cannondale has presented the new CAAD14, the latest version of what has been the most iconic competition aluminum bike of the last decades. With this generation, the brand aims to regain the prominence of this material, and it does so with a lightweight, responsive, and aerodynamic frame that captures the unique sensations of aluminum.
Cannondale CAAD14: competition aluminum evolves
Far from trying to imitate the shapes or behavior of carbon, the new CAAD14 is conceived as a modern interpretation of competition aluminum. Cannondale presents this bike as a direct and fast machine, designed to convey a very lively pedaling sensation, with great lateral stiffness and precise handling, characteristics historically associated with the CAAD family.

The heart of the bike is a frame made of SmartForm C1 Premium aluminum, with internal cable routing, thru-axles, flat mount brake mounts for disc brakes, and a UDH dropout.

In size 56, the frame weighs 1,280 g in its lightest version, while the rest of the configurations are around 1,410 g, figures that place it among the lightest aluminum frames on the current market. The set is completed with a fully carbon fork, which in this platform has a declared weight of 397 g. The geometry maintains the typical sporty focus of the CAAD series, with an aggressive position designed for competition, intense training, or fast road cycling.
Additionally, the bike accommodates tires up to 32 mm, a figure that reflects the current trend towards wider tires to improve grip, comfort, and control in real road conditions.

Modern integration and easy maintenance
Although the frame maintains a classic aesthetic typical of aluminum, the CAAD14 incorporates current technical solutions. Among them stands out the Delta head tube, which allows for the integration of cable routing from the handlebars into the frame, achieving a cleaner appearance and reducing aerodynamic drag.

Cannondale has also opted for components that facilitate maintenance and long-term compatibility. Among them are the 68 mm BSA threaded bottom bracket, easier to maintain than press-fit systems, the UDH dropout (Universal Derailleur Hanger), compatible with multiple current and future drivetrains, and a 27.2 mm seat post, a common size that is easy to replace.
The brand explains that these decisions aim to make the bike easy to maintain and customize over time.
