"Immediate recall and withdrawal": CUBE issues an urgent warning due to the risk of breakage in the ACID carbon crank arms of several eBike models
CUBE has announced an urgent safety recall affecting numerous e-bikes from its 2026 range equipped with ACID carbon Hybrid cranks. The German brand has requested to stop using the affected bicycles “without exception and with immediate effect” after detecting a potential structural failure in the aluminum threaded insert located in the pedal mounting area.
CUBE orders to stop using several 2026 e-bikes due to risk of breakage in carbon cranks
According to the company, the problem was detected during internal quality controls and may cause a sudden breakage of the connection between the pedal and the crank. The defect specifically affects the ACID carbon Hybrid 2026 cranks with references #30884 and #30885, on both the left and right sides, and in all available lengths, from 160 to 175 mm.
The brand warns that this failure “increases the risk of accident” and could result in material damage or serious injuries. Therefore, all affected bicycles must be taken to an authorized CUBE dealer to replace the cranks.

The affected models include e-MTB, gravel, and electric trekking bikes

The recall affects several of the most advanced and exclusive e-bikes in CUBE's 2026 catalog. Among them are enduro and trail models such as the Stereo Hybrid ONE77 HPC and ONE44 HPC, as well as carbon AMS Hybrid, Reaction Hybrid, and also electric gravel and trekking bikes like the Nuroad Hybrid C:62 or Kathmandu Hybrid C:62.
The procedure established by the brand requires immediate cessation of bicycle use and verification of the frame number using the tool provided by CUBE. Subsequently, the user must go to the dealer where they purchased the bicycle to process the replacement.

As a solution, CUBE will install new HPA aluminum cranks with an integrated pin in the right arm to facilitate chain guidance. The brand will offer two alternatives to affected owners.
The first option consists of permanently replacing the carbon cranks with aluminum ones and additionally receiving an ACID E-Bike PRO-E 200 HB X-Connect front light valued at 149.95 euros as compensation.
The second option proposes a temporary solution with aluminum cranks and a future replacement with new carbon cranks when they become available, something CUBE estimates could take around 12 months.
How to know if your bicycle is affected
The verification must be done using the WOW frame number of the bicycle. This code can be found on the bottom bracket or on an identification sticker located in different parts of the frame, depending on the model.
CUBE indicates that only bicycles delivered before May 8, 2026, and originally equipped with the ACID carbon Hybrid 2026 cranks are affected.
