“I’m tired of this”: Paul Seixas opens up about his next contract and admits Decathlon is making him think twice
Paul Seixas still hasn't decided where he will race starting in 2028. The Frenchman, who will finish his contract with Decathlon CMA CGM at the end of the next season, acknowledges that he is starting to get tired of the constant discussions about his future. Although he is aware that he will have to make a decision relatively soon, he does not rule out starting 2027 without having announced his next team.
Paul Seixas is tired of negotiations about his future: "I'm fed up with this"
At just 20 years old, Seixas has become one of the most sought-after riders in the international peloton. His fourth place in the Tour de France and his recent victory in Il Lombardia have skyrocketed his market value, to the point that his continuity with Decathlon is already one of the major pending operations in cycling.
The rider himself has addressed this situation during an interview granted to the Super Moscato Show program on RMC, in which he acknowledged his weariness with the pressure surrounding his contracts.
"So far, throughout my short career, I've spent my time chasing contracts. Every time I got a good result, they told me I had to sign again", explained the Frenchman.

"But when I signed my current contract two years ago, I promised myself that I wouldn't rush to sign the next one. Because, honestly, I'm fed up with this," he added with a laugh.
Seixas assures that he is currently enjoying his vacation and that he has not made any decision yet. He also does not seem willing to be influenced by deadlines that interested teams may impose on him.
"Right now I'm on vacation and I'm not thinking too much about it. Although soon I will have to make a decision, I haven't made it yet. I think there will come a time when I will feel that it's the right decision."
Seixas does not rule out starting 2027 without announcing his future
Despite his intention to take things slowly, the Frenchman admits that keeping this situation open for too long could end up becoming a problem.
"It's going to be increasingly overwhelming. I can't decide at the last minute, but maybe I'll start the season without announcing anything. I still don't know. I think there will come a time when I will want to get rid of all this".
The uncertainty particularly affects Decathlon CMA CGM, which is working to convince its star to extend his contract beyond 2027. As we reported in Brújula Bike, the French team is preparing a significant renewal of its structure with the signings of Ben O'Connor, Pavel Sivakov, and Laurens De Plus.
Seixas himself acknowledges that these moves are changing his perception of the project and that waiting before committing to any team has allowed him to better understand Decathlon's possibilities.
"I think it has been good not to have made a decision until now. When you see how Decathlon CMA CGM has evolved, a year ago it was not the same team. Now we have a much clearer idea of where it is heading."
These statements are particularly relevant at a time when Visma Lease a Bike and UAE Team Emirates-XRG are among the possible destinations for the rider. Both teams have been linked to his future, although for now, there is no confirmed agreement.
Decathlon is also playing its cards. In addition to significantly strengthening its mountain block, the French formation is willing to make a significant financial effort to retain him. His representative, Joona Laukka, has also not confirmed any of the amounts that have been published regarding possible offers.
Seixas's decision will have consequences for a large part of the 2028 transfer market, but the Frenchman does not seem willing to rush. His sporting evolution allows him to negotiate from a privileged position and, according to his own words, he wants to know the alternatives well before committing the next years of his career.
For now, the only confirmed thing is that he will continue wearing the Decathlon jersey in 2027. What happens next remains open.
