How much money is earned for being a UCI World Champion
124,250 euros is the amount allocated by the UCI as prize money for the Glasgow Cycling World Championships in the different modalities of Road Cycling. An amount whose greater percentage is destined to the Elite category races. As a detail to take into account, both men and women will receive identical prizes in these World Championships 2023.

In addition to winning the coveted rainbow jersey, Mathieu van der Poel added to his account 8,000 € corresponding to the prize money that the UCI has allocated for the winner of the Elite races of the 2023 Cycling World Championships that are being held these days in Glasgow as far as the road race is concerned.

This amount is usually shared among all team members, following a tradition that has been respected for decades. Wout van Aert received €4,000 for his second place, while Tadej Pocacar received €2,000. The same amount will go to the podium finishers in the men's and women's individual time trials.
However, neither the road race nor the individual time trial are the best rewarded. 26,250 € will be distributed to the teams with the best times in the mixed team time trial, distributed as follows: 15,000 € for the winner, 7,500 € for the second and 3,750 € for the bronze medalist.
As expected, the Junior cyclists are the ones who receive the least amount of prize money, with the winner receiving €2,000, the second €1,000 and the third €500. Modest prizes for a world-class event and far from those awarded by a race like the Tour de France.
