Honda draws inspiration from its iconic RN01 for its future eBikes

From its stand at the Japanese Mobility Salon, Honda unveiled the concept of an e-MTB with which the brand proposes its entry into the sector. In addition, it does so by reinterpreting one of the most iconic DH bikes in the history of this sport, the Honda RN01 G-Cross. An MTB with which it competed in the first decade of the 2000s and which still looks futuristic today.

This first prototype of this e-MTB has just seen the light but, without official confirmation, it could be a final model intended to be produced soon. From e-BikeJapan they report that the frame will be cast aluminum, something the brand already uses in its motorcycles. The motor and battery would be integrated into the frame tubing and the motor could be a Brose Drive S Mag of 90Nm.

Honda entered the electric motorcycle sector a few years ago and set the year 2040 as a horizon in which the brand would have a 100% electric catalog. So it makes sense that it could include an electric bicycle division in it.

New news about this model is expected next month, when the brand will have a new exhibition space at the Milan International Motorcycle Show.
