Garmin releases a software update with significant improvements in the general health section
For some time now, Garmin has been working on its bike computers to turn them into a true pocket personal trainer. The new update released by Garmin advances in that direction, allowing its existing models to benefit from some new features created for its latest generation devices.

The Edge 540, 840, 1050, and MTB bike computers are updated with new health features
Garmin does not forget its devices from previous seasons in its range of bike computers and continues to evolve their features with regular updates, with the latest released by the North American company improving the health and training functions of the Edge 540, 840, 1050, and MTB models, making them more capable and bringing them closer to the new Garmin Edge 850 and 550 that already incorporated them.
Among these new features, we find, for example, smart hydration and nutrition alerts that go beyond the basic alerts these models had, which reminded you to eat and drink during the ride at certain intervals. Now, many more parameters are taken into account when choosing the moment to issue the reminder, such as the cyclist's training level, heat, humidity, elevation of the route, or the intensity of pedaling.

A useful feature is also added that allows, if we have electronic shifting connected to the bike computer, to track the time we have used each of the gear combinations throughout the ride, which can be very useful when adjusting the gear ratios of our bike.
In the training functions, we also find improvements thanks to the smart processing of data. Specifically, in the power guide that allows adjusting power targets based on real-time resistance, the use of weather data such as wind direction, or parameters like altitude acclimatization that affect the power we are capable of generating.

These updates will be distributed to Garmin bike computers when they connect to the mobile phone they are linked to and sync with the Garmin Connect app.
