Garmin launches the Edge MTB: the first GPS designed exclusively for mountain biking
Garmin has presented today the new Edge MTB, a compact and ultra-resistant GPS cycle computer, specifically designed for the demands of mountain biking. This model comes with pioneering features such as 5 Hz GPS recording, specific enduro and downhill profiles, and full-color maps.
New Garmin Edge MTB: the first cycle computer from the brand specifically for MTB
Until now, Garmin did not make a distinction in its range of cycle computers by modalities, but that has just changed.
"Mountain biking continues to grow in popularity worldwide, which is why we are excited to add Edge MTB to our cycling product line. Designed by mountain bikers, for mountain bikers...", explained Salvador Alcover, General Manager of Garmin Iberia.

Tips for getting up early to ride
The new Edge MTB stands out for its robust construction, including seven mud and dust resistant buttons, and a Corning Gorilla Glass® screen to withstand scratches and extreme conditions. Its mounting system offers several options to adapt to each rider's style.
Its battery offers up to 14 hours of autonomy in intensive use and up to 26 hours in power-saving mode, ideal for long routes and full days in the mountains.
Among its most relevant functions are:
- 5 Hz multiband GPS recording: updates location five times per second for greater accuracy, ideal for technical sections and fast descents.
- Enduro Profile: measures ascents, descents, and overall race times.
- Downhill Profile: automatically records each descent, ignoring chairlift or transport ascents.
- Customizable timing sectors: allows evaluating performance in different sections in real-time.
- Integrated maps: access to Trailforks routes, navigation with Trendline™, and preloaded Garmin TopoActive maps for MTB, gravel, road, etc.
- Forksight Mode: displays contextual trail information (name, difficulty, distance to start, elevation).
- MTB Dynamics: analyzes key data such as jump count and distance, time in suspension, grit® and flow™.
- Safety functions: includes LiveTrack, incident detection, and compatibility with Varia™ radars and inReach® devices.
The Garmin Edge MTB is now available at a recommended price of €399.99.
Only time will tell if this is not just Garmin's first step towards starting to segment its catalog by modalities, something that could make some models lose or gain functionalities.
