From Jenny Rissveds to Van der Poel, Canyon presents its XCO cyclists for 2025
The German brand Canyon has been committed to competition for 4 decades and after winning everything in performance mountain biking, for the 2025 season they have raised the stakes with the strongest XCO cyclist team to date.
Canyon announces its XCO cyclists for 2025
The manufacturer explains that their focus on performance not only drives the development of their athletes, but also translates into technological advances in their bikes. For 2025, they have put together a team that combines experience and youth to dominate both Cross-Country Olympic (XCO) races and explosive Short Track (XCC) events.
In 2025, Canyon will have 2 teams in the new "first division" of mountain biking, the powerful Canyon CLLCTV XC Team and the multidisciplinary Alpecin-Deceuninck, and these are all their cyclists.
The names leading the Canyon CLLCTV XC Team in 2025
Leading the team is Jenny Rissveds, a true legend of XCO. The Swedish Olympic champion and winner of World Cup events brings not only talent and experience, but also a unique mindset that has inspired the entire cycling community. Her addition strengthens the team's level and raises their aspirations to the maximum.

Accompanying her will be two of the most promising young talents in European MTB. Valentina Corvi, an Italian prodigy in both MTB and CX, finished fourth in the 2024 Elite World Championship, in addition to being national champion in both disciplines. Alongside her, the French Noa Filippi, national, European, and French Cup champion in the junior category, arrives with the goal of establishing herself in the elite.
The team also includes established names returning with the desire to continue achieving success. Luca Schwarzbauer, known for his explosiveness and aggressiveness in races, approaches the season with the same mentality that has made him a fan favorite. Thibaut François, a young Spaniard who in 2024 managed to break into the Top 10 of the Elite XCO World Cup, will be seeking his first podium in the top category.
Completing the lineup, the experienced Thomas Griot will once again team up with Schwarzbauer and François. With years of competition at the highest level, the Frenchman aims to turn his acquired experience into standout results during 2025.
Alpecin-Deceuninck and the elite of multidisciplinary cycling
In addition to the Canyon CLLCTV XC Team, the brand will continue to support world-class cyclists under the Alpecin-Deceuninck team, where young Puck Pieterse has established herself as one of the most versatile cyclists in the peloton. At just 22 years old, the Dutchwoman has accumulated victories in the MTB World Cup, XCO and XCC World Championships, in addition to an impressive debut in the Elite road category in 2024.
Another big name on the team is New Zealander Sam Gaze, who will once again combine MTB and road cycling in 2025 after demonstrating dominant form last year in South America with a double victory.
And if rumors are true, we could see the return of Mathieu van der Poel to mountain biking. The Dutchman, who has already dominated road cycling and cyclocross, has expressed his desire to win the MTB World Championship, the only major title missing from his palmares. If he decides to compete in the World Championship, the anticipation will be high.
The Canyon Lux World Cup CFR has won everything in this sport
To face the challenges of XCO and XCC, both the Canyon CLLCTV XC Team and Alpecin-Deceuninck will ride on the Canyon Lux World Cup CFR, a bike designed for maximum efficiency and speed.
This is a model that has already won everything in this sport and in its latest version features an ultralight frame of 1,535g, less than 11kg in total, combining stiffness and responsiveness to deliver exceptional performance on the most demanding circuits.
It is worth noting that the Lux World Cup CFR will have completely different setups for each team. The Canyon CLLCTV XC Team will ride with all electronic SRAM components with intelligent Flight Attendant suspensions, while Alpecin-Deceuninck will use Fox suspensions and the complete Shimano XTR group.
While it remains to be confirmed if any of the Alpecin-Deceuninck cyclists will be at the start of the XCO World Cup, what is clear is that the Canyon CLLCTV XC Team will kick off the official season in Araxa, Brazil, in early April, where XCO action will take its first major stage of the year.
