Fizik Lyra Shoes: new fit, double BOA, and R4 sole for more efficient pedaling
Fizik presents its new Lyra road shoe. A model that seeks to balance performance and comfort for modern cycling, designed to adapt to contemporary riding positions, providing an efficient platform for power transfer while maintaining a high level of comfort even on long rides or daily training sessions.
Fizik Lyra: the new road shoe designed for the modern riding position
The Lyra is positioned as a versatile shoe within the Italian brand's catalog, inspired by solutions found in its high-end models but translated into an option designed for both competition and frequent training.
One of the key changes in the new model is the update of the shoe's anatomical shape. Fizik explains that the evolution of bicycle geometries and pedaling positions has changed the way the foot interacts with the bike's contact points.

To respond to this change, the Lyra adopts a wider and rounder forefoot, a lower “drop” profile (less height difference between the toe and heel), and a platform designed for modern pedaling positions.
This design aims to provide a more natural feel when applying force on the pedal and facilitates positions that many cyclists currently use, such as rearward cleat placement, an increasingly common configuration to improve stability and efficiency during prolonged efforts.
According to Alex Locatelli, Brand Manager of Fizik, the goal was to create a shoe that reflects how cyclists ride today: “With Lyra, we wanted to create a road shoe that truly reflects how cyclists ride today. By redesigning the anatomical shape and expanding the toe box, we aim to offer a more natural fit that enhances both comfort and efficiency.”
At the base of the shoe is the R4 Fiber Composite sole, designed to provide efficient power transfer without compromising comfort during prolonged use.
This sole features a stiffness index of 8, is constructed from fiber composite, and includes integrated ventilation.
The upper uses a technical mesh upper that improves foot ventilation, which is especially important on long rides or intense sessions. Additionally, laminated PU zones around the closure system provide added structure and support.

The adjustment system is another standout feature of the model. The Lyra incorporates the Dual-Dial Li2 BOA® Fit System, which allows independent adjustment of the instep and midfoot.
This enables a more precise and personalized fit while riding, facilitating both micro-adjustments and quick releases of the closure.
