Fizik launches the new R1 Light range: up to 17% lighter and without resorting to 3D printing
Fizik expands its high-end catalog with the new R1 Light, a family of minimalist saddles that reduces weight by around 17% compared to the previous R1 range. The aim of this new range is to lighten as much as possible without compromising ergonomics or performance, and to do so without resorting to 3D printed structures, a technology that has set trends in recent years within the premium segment.
Fizik R1 Light Saddles: Structural Minimalism Focused on Performance
As explained by Alex Locatelli, Brand Manager of Fizik, the R1 Light is born from combining proven high-performance technologies within the brand's catalog with decades of experience in saddle design. The result is a platform that eliminates all superfluous elements and focuses on the essentials.

The new R1 Light architecture is based on a combination of:
- Carbon-reinforced nylon base
- High-stiffness carbon rails
- Low-profile "raw" EVA padding

This construction seeks a direct and reactive response while maintaining comfort thanks to the ergonomic shape of each model. The reduction of material and thickness allows for weight savings without sacrificing support, with a clear focus on long, fast rides and demanding sports use.

Fizik applies the R1 Light platform to three of its most recognized silhouettes, covering different cyclist profiles and road use.
Tempo Aliante R1 Light
One of Fizik's most iconic endurance saddles since its launch in 2003. It maintains its characteristic wavy profile, focused on comfort for long distances, and incorporates a central pressure relief cut, lightweight EVA padding, and carbon rails. It is clearly aimed at endurance road cycling.

Vento Argo R1 Light
The most racing option within the range. The Argo is Fizik's most versatile saddle, but in this R1 Light version, it is designed for bikes with aggressive geometries, prioritizing stability and efficiency in high-intensity efforts.

Vento Antares R1 Light
A classic that has frequently appeared on the podiums of major tours over the last two decades. The R1 Light version maintains its refined transition between the nose and wings, offering a direct response and a firm feel, aimed at competition at the highest level.

Fizik sets the price at 199 € for the three models, with the following declared specifications:
