Fara presents an interesting modular handlebar for Gravel or long distances
The best ergonomics and proper positioning are of special importance in a discipline like gravel, where its tests often face very long distances. The new handlebar created by the Norwegian firm Fara Cycling puts everything in its favor with a modular design so that the position is not a problem when we spend many, many hours on the bike.
Fara Cycling in search of the best ergonomics with its Modular Cockpit
Spectacular handlebar created by the Norwegian brand Fara Cycling that promises to make gravel rides much more comfortable thanks to its ergonomics carefully studied for this specialty. An aspect that gravel still has pending, where we see handlebars with ridiculous flares that destroy the ergonomics of the shift levers or directly for those who use road handlebars sacrificing comfort and bike control capacity.
The Fara Cycling Modular Cockpit is mounted on a specific stem, divided into two arms, similar to what we find in the Cervélo S5 road bike, although in this case without an aerodynamic function but rather, what is sought is to anchor the handlebar to a stable platform that allows various adaptations.

The first and main one is that, by playing with the handlebar anchor point, the effective stem length can be modified by 10 mm. An anchor point that is also designed to be able to attach time trial extensions, typically used in ultra-distance gravel, the first of the modular accessories that the brand intends to expand in the future.
The stem has little inclination compared to what is usually common. This is done to compensate for the lateral drop that the handlebar has in its horizontal grip section, seeking to make the hand hold this area in a more natural position. A horizontal section that also has a generous sweep backwards with the same objective of making the hand, wrist, and arm hold here in a completely relaxed position.
The lever attachment area is designed with a 6° inclination to make the transition not so flat and provide greater grip to them when we ride holding onto them in difficult terrain, while the flare, a characteristic parameter of gravel handlebars that defines how much the lower part opens compared to the lever area, remains at a modest 3°, a figure that is even common nowadays in many road handlebars.
The Modular Cockpit handlebar is specifically designed to integrate perfectly with Fara Cycling bikes, although having a conventional fork attachment it would be compatible with any bike, having, as is mandatory in current handlebars, a fully internal cable routing.
It has an average weight of 450 g and is available in versions ranging from 37 to 44 cm measured at the lever area, a width that increases by 3 cm if measured at the tips; and stem lengths ranging from 80 mm to 130 mm so, in addition to gravel, they have also taken into account its pure use on the road. It can be purchased on the brand's website, starting from April 2nd for an exclusive price of €749, which does not include the time trial extensions that must be purchased as an accessory and raise the amount by an additional €350.
