Evenepoel's Specialized Shiv rainbow edition in detail

Specialized doesn't live by the S-Works Tarmac SL8 alone. For Remco Evenepoel, the 2023 Vuelta a España's individual time trial meant the debut of the rainbow time trial jersey he won a few weeks ago at the Glasgow World Championships. As expected, Specialized has prepared for the Belgian rider a design in line with Evenepoel's status as a time trial king.

He could not debut the rainbow with victory, but the only individual time trial of La Vuelta a España has been fruitful for a Remco Evenepoel only surpassed by a huge Filippo Ganna who gave no option to the rest of the participants. A second place that Remco achieved on his new Specialized Shiv specially dressed for the occasion on the first day in which the Soudal-QuickStep rider could wear the colors of World Champion in the individual battle.

Technically, this Specialized Shiv ridden by the Belgian is identical to the one used throughout the season and whose tuning we could see on Remco's new YouTube channel, whose first video showed the intense aerodynamic improvement work carried out in preparation for the World Championship.

A bike that features the usual Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 but with specific levers on handlebars and extensions and with a huge 60-tooth big chainring that has allowed it to fly at over 55 km / h through the streets of Valladolid. Speeds that could not be achieved without the aerodynamics of the Roval Outride lenticular wheel and the high profile Roval front wheel; without the excellent rolling of the Specialized Turbo tubeless tyres.

Although the handlebars are the standard Shiv catalog handlebars, the aerodynamic bar ends are, as is becoming more and more common, customized to the rider's arm shape and position for the least resistance.

In terms of design, Specialized has not wanted to be too strident, highlighting the World Champion status only in the rainbow stripes that decorate the seat tube and put the note of color to a pearly white paint with black logos that, if we are not mistaken, is like the one available for the new Tarmac SL8 and of which we can tell you, without a doubt, that it is beautiful.
