This electric mountain bike has a motor with 1,000 watts of average power, a 48-volt battery, 26" by 2.4" wheels, and weighs 34 kilograms. The 2nd Cavalry Regiment has shared the photograph, in which three soldiers can be seen riding this robust e-MTB.
Recon Ranger: this is the electric bike of the most powerful army in the world
The link between the cycling industry and the military dates back to the 19th century. A lot of time has passed since then, but the truth is that throughout all these years many armies have incorporated bicycles into their ranks. The Bianchi bikes of the Italian bersaglieri soldiers during World War I or, more recently, the e-bikes of the Ukrainian army are just a few examples. Now, the United States has released an image certifying that bikes have also reached the fleet of ground vehicles of the most powerful army in the world.

The Recon Ranger is the e-MTB that starred in the aforementioned photograph of the 2nd Cavalry Regiment; specifically, it is three soldiers who are in the Bemowo Piskie training area (Poland) while conducting long-distance reconnaissance. The Ranger, available in four colors, is shown in the photo with the Multicam finish.
Recon is an American company that also signs the bikes used by the FBI and other federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.
The model chosen by the United States Army stands out for a motor capable of delivering a tremendous 1,000 watts of average power, powered by a Samsung 48-volt lithium-ion battery -11.6 amperes-. In addition, it includes a color LCD display, comes equipped with Shimano groupset -no further details are given- and, as expected, also features front suspension in the fork and hydraulic disc brakes.
Recon ensures that the Ranger offers smooth gear changes, ease of handling, and versatility between pedaling, assisted use, and throttle. One of the most curious details is the 26" wheel size, fitted with Kenda 4" tires with puncture protection.
The frame is aluminum and the bike also has metal front and rear fenders, rear luggage rack, and front light. Additionally, in one of the photos published on the Recon manufacturer's website, a trailer can be seen installed.
