The Decathlon-AG2R La Mondiale team is unveiling new kit in the middle of the season
Just three months after debuting their new colors following the sponsorship of the French sports chain, Decathlon-AG2R La Mondiale changes its colors in line with the new corporate image that the brand has just launched for all its stores and products.
The new Decathlon-AG2R jersey takes us to the stars
Galaxy is the name given to the new design that will be featured on the Decathlon-AG2R La Mondiale jerseys after the French brand changed its corporate image. A jersey that can be likened to a starry sky on its front, replacing the traditional light blue that identified Decathlon with a darker blue. Additionally, the new corporate logo of the French firm and different shades of green are added, contrasting with the clean and simple design they had been sporting during the first months of the season.
An oddly, the jersey continues to be made by Rosti, with whom the French team had a sponsorship contract instead of the Van Rysel clothing made by Decathlon, which curiously sponsors another French team: Cofidis.

Decathlon-AG2R La Mondiale, despite the short season we have had so far, was able to properly showcase its previous jersey design, with 4 victories and numerous top finishes on the legs of cyclists like the inspired Ben O'Connor or Bennoit Cosnefroy.
A change that the team must have already planned, as specified by UCI regulations, in order to make a permanent change in the team's kit, it must be notified to the highest cycling body 30 days before the expected debut date, and the UCI has a 15-day period to respond with approval of the new design.
At this point, it is interesting how the UCI does not take into account the similarity of colors between different teams. If last year we struggled a bit to differentiate between the cyclists of INEOS Grenadiers and Bahrain-Victorious, this year we will have the same issue between this new Decathlon-AG2R La Mondiale jersey and that of Israel-PremierTech, as well as confusion with the Movistar Team jersey in aerial shots due to the similar shades.
Furthermore, the UCI also allows teams to change their kit for specific events or races up to 3 times a year. A possibility that is often used by many during the Tour de France or to celebrate a major victory in the final stages of the Grand Tours. Once again, teams must plan ahead as in this case, the request to the UCI must be made 60 days in advance.
