Colnago presents the C72, its new handcrafted masterpiece made in Italy
Colnago has presented its new C72 in Milan, a bicycle that gives a new meaning to the concept of performance within its own history. The C Series has always been the purest core of the Italian brand, and this new iteration maintains that idea while bringing it into a more contemporary realm.
The new Colnago C Series follows its own path within the current market
The launch took place at the Teatro alla Scala, a setting that reinforces the brand's message. It is not just a competition bicycle, but an object where design, engineering, and culture intertwine.

In a context dominated by monocoque frames and large-scale industrial production, Colnago insists on a different philosophy. The C72 maintains modular construction by parts, assembling carbon tubes individually.

This approach allows for a much more precise adjustment of the frame's dynamic behavior. It is not just about stiffness or weight, but about how forces are distributed in each area. The result is a bicycle that aims to respond with precision in acceleration, maintain stability at high speeds, and offer control in curves without becoming jittery.

The C72 introduces a clear idea of riding where everything revolves around the sensation of balance. The front end has been optimized to offer stability as speed increases, translating into more confidence on descents and demanding situations. At the same time, the geometry maintains precise steering without becoming overly aggressive.
Regarding power transmission, the use of high-modulus carbon and work on torsional stiffness allow for an immediate response to pedaling. But that stiffness does not compromise comfort. The bicycle gains absorption capacity and increases tire clearance, opening the door to fitting wider tires and expanding its range of use beyond perfect asphalt.

Handcrafted construction remains the core of the project
Each frame is manufactured in Italy, in Cambiago, with a process that includes assembly, finishing, and manual painting. This limits production to about 3,000 units annually, a figure that clearly defines its positioning.
Colnago works on the continuity between surfaces with an approach inspired by the panel fitting of the high-end automotive sector. This translates into very precise transitions between parts and a sense of fluidity throughout the frame.

Far from hiding the modular construction, the C72 deliberately showcases it, integrating each element into the whole.
Integration also evolves, though without resorting to extreme solutions. The new CC.02 cockpit improves control and reduces weight, while the integrated seat post provides aerodynamic advantages and maintains adjustability. Additionally, there is a specific bottle holder that incorporates a hidden compartment within the diagonal tube, a solution aimed at functionality without compromising the structure.

The C72 is offered in four color combinations designed to emphasize the structural continuity of the frame. The goal is for the frame to be perceived as a single integrated piece:
- Black with a red top tube
- Pearl white with silver
- Black with bronze details
- Two-tone blue

Colnago C72 La Scala: a limited edition
Alongside the standard version, Colnago has presented the C72 La Scala, a limited edition of 72 numbered units.

This variant takes inspiration from the Teatro alla Scala and translates it into a specific decoration with deep red, golden details, and white finishes with a marbled effect. The result is a more artistic interpretation of the C72 concept, while keeping its technical foundation intact. Its price is set at €22,000.
The Colnago C72 will be available to order with an approximate lead time of 60 days.
