Castelli presents a racing skinsuit for gravel that integrates a hydration bag
Castelli expands its specific gravel line with the launch of the new Unlimited Gravel Skinsuit, a competition suit that integrates a compartment in the upper back to hold a hydration bladder of up to 1.5 liters. The proposal aims to offer a more aerodynamic and lightweight alternative to the usual vests or hydration packs that many riders use in long-distance events.
The new Castelli Unlimited Skinsuit integrates hydration in the back for racing without a backpack
In gravel races like Unbound, Traka, or ultra-distance events, autonomy in water and nutrition is key, but any external element penalizes aerodynamics and can compromise comfort after many hours on the bike. Castelli, like other brands have done, opts to integrate that extra hydration capacity directly into the garment, maintaining a snug fit focused on performance.
The pocket for the hydration bladder is made of mesh and located in the upper back area. In addition to allowing the transport of up to 1.5 liters of additional water, its location creates a volume behind the helmet that, according to the brand, helps improve airflow in that area. The design includes guides for the tube on both the shoulders and the sides, facilitating its use during the race. This solution is complemented by the classic three open rear pockets plus one additional zippered pocket, allowing for the usual carrying capacity for tools or food.

The development of the suit has not been limited to internal tests. Rider Rob Britton used a prototype to win the Unbound XL 2025, one of the most demanding events on the gravel calendar. After that victory, Britton explained:
“I received the Unlimited Speedsuit the day before Unbound and, in addition to fitting very well, the leg pockets worked perfectly: nothing moved, and the hydration pocket was perfectly resolved. I was also able to replace the bladder quickly during the race… What I like most is that it is comfortable as well as very fast. I have used it in almost every race since my victory at Unbound and it is definitely expanding what is possible in gravel.”

Regarding the construction, the upper part of the suit shares philosophy with the aerodynamic road range of the brand. It uses the Air_O Stretch fabric, highly breathable and with UPF 30 sun protection, and features a shoulder and seam design optimized through CFD simulations to reduce drag. The lower part is based on the Free Aero Race S shorts, made of Forza2 Stretch fabric, which Castelli attributes a 3% reduction in CdA. It incorporates the Progetto X2 Air Seamless pad and adds specific nutrition pockets on the upper thighs, designed to facilitate access to gels or bars without resorting to side cargo pockets that are more exposed to the wind.

Along with the suit, Castelli has introduced the new Unlimited Pro 2 Jersey, available in both men's and women's versions. This jersey maintains the aerodynamic focus and also integrates a rear pocket compatible with a 1.5-liter hydration bladder, offering a more versatile alternative for those who prefer to combine jersey and shorts separately.

The Unlimited Gravel Skinsuit is now available at a price of 350 euros, in unisex fit and two color combinations. The Unlimited Pro 2 Jersey is priced at 180 euros, with several color options depending on whether it is the men's or women's version.
