Canyon unveils its fastest and most expensive bike to date
The boards of the Chris Hoy velodrome in Glasgow will see the launch of the fastest Canyon ever built and also the most expensive. A Canyon Speedmax CFR Track that the German company has developed together with Canyon//SRAM rider Chloé Dygert and with which it will try to conquer the gold medals it won in 2020 in the individual and team pursuit at the recently started World Championships.
Canyon Speedmax CFR Track: 20,000 € of high technology
Track racing is one of the disciplines in which the material is most decisive in the final result. Above all, the aerodynamic aspect given the high speeds that are handled in velodrome competitions. And few brands dare to take on the development of a track bike with all the engineering effort involved and the small return in terms of sales.
Canyon has decided to take up this challenge by creating a machine that will be presented at the World Cycling Championships in Glasgow these days, with the help of American cyclist Chloé Dygert, with whom it has actively collaborated in its development.

For the development of its aerodynamics Canyon has relied on the wisdom of the experts at Swiss Side who have opted for a very different concept to that used by the reference machine on the track, the Hope HB-T, which also announced its latest evolution a few days ago. If the Brits chose a fork leg and very tight seat stays to reduce the interaction with wheels and rider, Canyon has gone the other way and chosen a tremendously narrow bike that is able to cut through the air like a knife, including the lenticular wheels, developed for this bike so that they interact with it just as the engineers want them to.
As with the British bike, this Canyon Speedmax CFR can be configured with time trial handlebars to cope with pursuit events or conventional curved handlebars for use in long-distance races. For the first configuration, Canyon has also developed a specific cockpit that, above all, is configurable to the millimeter so that the rider can achieve the most efficient position on it.
In addition to the aforementioned wheels, which besides being aerodynamic are tremendously stiff to withstand without flinching the forces generated in a velodrome when facing the cambers at very high speeds. As a curiosity, they are designed to use 25 mm tyres instead of the still common tubulars that still dominate on the track. A size that Canyon tests have determined to be the most efficient.
We said that, in addition to the wheels, Canyon has dressed its bike exquisitely, highlighting the presence of SRM power-measuring cranks in the standard set-up.
