The Australian sprinter, winner of multiple stages in the Grand Tours, confirmed his decision through Instagram with an extensive statement also shared by the British team.
"Throughout my life, everything has revolved around racing. The intense routine, sacrifice, constant pursuit of improvement, hunger to win... it has been my rhythm, my identity. But what used to mean everything to me, no longer does," wrote Ewan.
The news comes unexpectedly, especially because the 30-year-old cyclist seemed to have regained his best form after signing with Ineos Grenadiers at the last minute for this season. This addition had marked a rebirth in his career, after some discreet seasons at Lotto and Jayco-AlUla, a team with which he had a difficult departure.

"Even when crossing the finish line first, that feeling you fight for years disappears faster than before. My experiences in the last two seasons, especially in the second half of 2024, have greatly worn down my relationship with this sport," added the Australian.

Ewan proudly bids farewell to his achievements with the British team: "I am glad I did not let that period define the end of my career, and I am proud of what I achieved in this brief but successful time with Ineos Grenadiers."
In his 11 years as a professional, Caleb Ewan stood out especially in the GreenEdge team, being one of the most dominant sprinters in the peloton in recent times. His record includes five stage wins in the Tour de France, another five in the Giro d'Italia, and two second places in the Milan-San Remo.
