New BUFF® MEGAMO team, a strong bet for international XCM
BUFF® and MEGAMO have just announced a new project in which both brands are joining forces to create a bike-marathon team with a clearly international projection, both in terms of its members and its objectives. The team is reborn with part of the structure of the former BUFF SCOTT and it includes a squad of 8 cyclists who are specialists in the modality as important as José Dias, Hans Becking or Enrique Morcillo.
The BUFF® MEGAMO team is born
Apart from the new sponsors, the team has been reshuffled and now includes 8 riders of 6 different nationalities. The Portuguese José Dias, bronze medalist at the last XCM World Championship, will continue to ride with the Dutchman Hans Becking, both of whom won several stage victories at the last Cape Epic. The Ibizan cyclist Enrique Morcillo will also wear the new BUFF® -MEGAMO colours together with Guillem Cassú, the youngest rider of the team.
Among the new signings, we find the German rider Naima Madlen Diesner and the Spanish rider Meritxell Figueras, who makes the leap from XCO to XCM. Frenchman Hugo Drechou, who already knows what it's like to be national champion, and Estonian Peeter Pruus, European champion in 2016, complete the team.
The team's main mountain bike will be the new Megamo Track, a full suspension bike with updated geometry in 100 and 120 mm travel versions.

The main sponsors of the team will be BUFF and MEGAMO, and this is how they discussed the announcement of the new team from their headquarters:
Gil Vilar, BUFF® Sports-Marketing Coordinator, said: "We are very excited about this new era. The union with Megamo is another step towards the internationalisation of the team. Being able to ally ourselves with a brand with the same objective as us, will allow the team to continue growing within the Bike Marathon and consolidate ourselves as a leading team, without closing the doors to other disciplines outside the XCM. We have managed to bring together a group of people who will help us achieve our goals. We want to inspire people to cycle outdoors".
Oriol Gil, Megamo Product Manager, comments: "Competition has always been part of Megamo's DNA. Since its origins in 1987, where the Liberto-Megamo team stood out at international level.
We are very excited to start this ambitious project together with BUFF® . With a main objective of brand recognition at international level and compete in the best MTB stage races in the world. Where adventure and fun are combined with the desire to fight for each race.
The understanding between our teams, BUFF® and Megamo, with similar brand values such as passion for outdoor sports and adventure, has also been key to create the optimal environment. It should also be noted that the competition, at the highest level, will allow us to improve the technological and innovative development of our products.
We look forward to a successful season together that will take us to the top!
Pau Zamora will continue to be the team manager, a position he already held at BUFF SCOTT, and this is how he announced the news: "We start this 2022 with a new project, very international and again, feminine, as we had at the beginning of the team in 2017. Our intention is not only to be on the podium, but to win the most important races. A commitment to internationalize the team with the entry of new bikers, a mix of people already consolidated or riders who, after excelling in XCO are going to take the step to XCM. In addition, we have global sponsors. And a calendar that aims to cover all the national races and the best international ones".
The BUFF® MEGAMO calendar is quite full in 2022 and after starting in a few weeks in the Costa Blanca Bike Race will be followed by the Mediterranean Epic, Andalucía Bike Race, Absa Cape Epic, Volcat, Vuelta a Ibiza, 4 Islands and Portugal BRASIL RIDE among others.
