Blanka Kata Vas breaks her collarbone in training
After a successful start to the cyclo-cross season a few days ago, SD Worx rider Blanka Kata Vas has seen her hopes in the mud diminished after an untimely crash that resulted in a broken collarbone that will keep her out of action for several weeks just when the cyclo-cross action moves to European territory after the start of the World Cup in Waterloo.
Broken collarbone cuts Blanka Kata Vas's cyclo-cross season start
Bad luck for the young Hungarian rider Blanka Kata Vas in the start of her third season as a professional in what should be the confirmation of what she had been showing in lower categories. Vas, a multidisciplinary cyclist who competes in road, cyclo-cross and mountain bike, had started her cyclo-cross season last weekend where she won the GP Oisterwijk ahead of top riders like Aniek van Alphen and Denise Betsema.
However, we will not be able to see if this victory is an inspired day or a leap in quality because, a couple of days ago, while training on the cyclocross bike, the Hungarian cyclist suffered a crash that produced one of the most common injuries of the cyclist: broken collarbone, as reported in social networks SD Worx team.
Unfortunately Blanka Vas crashed today during a cyclocross training session. She will undergo surgery on her collarbone in Herentals tonight.

Blanka underwent surgery, looking for a faster and more effective recovery and, as usual, in a few days she will surely resume her training on the turbo trainer. However, following the usual timing of this injury, we still have to wait between 3 and 4 weeks to see her back on the bike which will mean that, at least, she will miss the first two Cyclo-cross World Cup races that will take place on the 29th in Maasmechelen and on November 12th in Dendermonde, both in Belgium.
