The victory has a special meaning for Avancini. Considered the best Brazilian biker of all time, the rider from Petrópolis has won two world titles in XCM and accumulated fourteen national mountain bike championships before focusing his career on the road.
Approximately a year and a half after starting that transition, the Brazilian can already boast of wearing the national time trial jersey.
“This victory has a very special meaning. I have been going through a learning process since I decided to steer my career towards road cycling”, explained Avancini after the race.
The new Brazilian champion added that: “I am truly living a dream. Winning a Brazilian Championship shows that we are on the right path. It is a different modality, it is a different time, and standing on the highest step of the podium makes this moment even more special”.
A form that he had already shown in the United States
The triumph in Brasília confirms the excellent form of the Brazilian rider. Last May, he had already shown a glimpse of his adaptation to road cycling by winning the overall classification of the Tour of the Gila, one of the most prestigious stage races on the American calendar.
Now, with the national time trial champion jersey on his shoulders, Avancini adds one of the greatest successes of his second sports career.
