We all have Factor pigeonholed as a brand of purely sporty and competitive bikes. Now, while maintaining similar performance to what its Ostro Gravel competition offers, Factor expands its horizons towards a gravel bike with an adventurous focus and more capable on long-distance rides and when the terrain gets tough.

Factor boosts its gravel range with the adventurous yet sporty Aluto

Gravel has evolved a lot in a very short time, which has forced brands to move from bikes that had to be good for everything to the segmentation of products also present in other cycling modalities in order to adapt their products in the best possible way to each specific use.

The new Factor Aluto arises from the need to face increasingly longer and more technical routes with maximum comfort but, in the case of cyclists who compete in these classic gravel races, often characterized by their huge distances, over 300 km, with bikes that offer top performance.

That is why this Aluto, in reality, is not so different from the Ostro Gravel, an aerodynamic bike, more focused on those races on tracks that are almost raced at road pace as is the case with the UCI Gravel World Series races. On the other hand, the terrain of the Aluto would be more, for example, a The Traka, for which Factor, starting from the sporty geometry of the Ostro Gravel, has optimized it for 45 mm tires, although with wheel clearances capable of accommodating 47 mm tires at the rear and up to 52 mm on the fork.

The adaptations to fit these larger tires have been minimal. A slight variation in the head angle, slightly more closed to reduce the wheelbase and compensate for the loss of agility that comes with using larger tires, and a slightly lower bottom bracket so that this reduction in wheelbase does not result in a loss of bike stability.

As is mandatory in today's adventurous gravel bikes, the Factor Aluto features the usual storage system on the down tube to carry what is necessary to solve an untimely breakdown. Also, thinking about adventurous use, the bike is compatible with both 1X and 2X drivetrains.

Also, thinking about making the bike as simple as possible, which can be an extra when, for example, you have to repair a bike breakdown in a shop in a remote village, are the design of its internal cabling, designed to be easy to replace, or the use of a round seatpost. Of course, also a necessity in the latest gravel bikes, the dropout is of the UDH type to allow mounting the new specific SRAM groups. Not to mention that it has multiple rack mounts that allow us to attach accessories and bikepacking bags for those endless rides.

Seeking a slightly more comfortable position, this Factor Aluto is combined with the new integrated Black Inc. HB05 handlebar, with a slightly shorter reach.

As is customary in the Factor range, their models are fully customizable with prices ranging from €4,699 for the frame kit to €10,499 for the top-of-the-range model equipped with SRAM Red XPLR AXS with a power meter.
