Aleix Espargaró jumps into professional cycling with Lidl Trek
The former motorcycle racer Aleix Espargaró was close to signing with the Movistar cycling team in 2021, but then chose to continue competing in Moto GP until this year. Now, everything points to him fulfilling his dream of becoming a professional cyclist in 2025 with his signing by Lidl-Trek.

According to an exclusive report by the Spanish media Relevo, Aleix Espargaró will join Lidl-Trek at 35 years old next season. He has already been seen pedaling alongside his new teammates during the team's first training camp in Denia.
Espargaró is familiar with teammates like Carlos Verona and Juanpe López as they both live near him in Andorra and have shared many training kilometers over the years.
It remains to be seen what role Espargaró will play in the team, as the 30 spots in the WorldTour formation are full and he could move to the Lidl-Trek Future Racing development team.
