After making history at the Winter Olympic Games, Klaebo looks towards professional cycling
After dominating at Milano-Cortina 2026, Norwegian Johannes Hosflot Klaebo is starting to be heard far from cross-country skiing and closer to the asphalt, as professional cycling has already opened its doors to him.
After making history at the Games, Klaebo looks towards professional cycling
Professional cycling has been demonstrating for years that the leap from winter sports is no fantasy. There are the cases of Primoz Roglic, who was a ski jumper before winning grand tours; Florian Lipowitz, with a background in biathlon; young Jorgen Nordhagen, who excelled in cross-country skiing before joining the Visma Lease a Bike structure; or German Anton Palzer, a mountain skiing specialist who made the jump to the WorldTour after being signed by Red Bull–Bora–Hansgrohe.
The aerobic engine forged in snow and altitude can have a future on asphalt, and now, from the Winter Olympic Games of Milano-Cortina 2026, a name emerges that could elevate this trend to another dimension.
Norwegian Johannes Hosflot Klaebo has just signed a historic performance with six gold medals at the same Winter Olympic Games, an unprecedented milestone. At 29 years old and with a record that places him as the most decorated winter athlete in Olympic history, the question is no longer what he will do next.

The possibility of seeing him in cycling gear has gained strength after statements from Thor Hushovd, current head of the Uno-X Mobility team, who publicly acknowledged that he has tried to entice the Norwegian champion.
"I told Klaebo last year that once the Olympic Games were over, he should consider trying some sessions with the Uno-X team," Hushovd explained in an interview with Velo.
The former world road champion went further in describing his feelings after riding with him: "I have ridden with him and it is clear that he has a natural talent for cycling. He sits perfectly on the bike, has great control, and adapts quickly."
Hushovd also emphasized the physiological potential of the skier: "I have always said that Klaebo has extraordinary physical capacity, something truly unique. With the engine he has, he could succeed in almost any endurance sport."
This is not just a simple media speculation. Klaebo has already shared training sessions with the Norwegian structure and, as has been reported, accompanied the team in reconnaissance prior to the Tour of Flanders 2025, in addition to experiencing the Tour de France from the team car as a guest.
The skier himself left the door open last year: "First I have to do the Games [Olympics 2026] and then we will see," he stated in a video from the Uno-X team. "After the Games, I will start thinking about what I will do next, so maybe joining the Uno-X team should be the next goal."
However, from the team's environment, there is no certainty that the Norwegian will definitively hang up his skis. Before Milano-Cortina, he had already hinted at the possibility of extending his career until the 2030 Games.
For now, the only clear thing is that professional cycling is watching closely. And if the man with six gold medals decides to try his luck, it would not be the first time that snow leads directly to the peloton.
