A wooden stick, the striking accessory that Simon Andreassen mounted during the race
The Shimano Super Cup Massi Banyoles 2025 will be remembered for the extremely tough circuit that left abundant mud on the track. Something that the Danish Simon Andreassen (Orbea Factory Team) prepared for before heading out with a curious new accessory: a wooden stick.

The conditions of the Banyoles circuit were really aggressive with the equipment and during the women's and men's tests we saw how the cyclists had all kinds of mechanical problems or how they had to clean the mud from the frame and fork with their own hands to unlock the wheels.

Some cyclists seemed to be in another league in these circumstances, like Jolanda Neff, who not only had a Lefty fork that didn't accumulate mud, but also showed impeccable technique to avoid the worst areas while cleaning, on the go, her transmission with a water bottle at each refreshment station.

In the case of the Danish Simon Andreassen, seeing the complications that the cyclists had in their race, he decided to equip his new Orbea Oiz with an accessory that did not go unnoticed by anyone.
He attached a wooden stick to the handlebars with paper tape and after the first lap, he could be seen using it to remove the mud that accumulated in the transmission. A simple and effective solution that worked as well as any of the latest technological advances that invade mountain biking today.
The cyclist from the Orbea Factory Team finished fourth in Banyoles, fighting for the podium in a sprint with Victor Koretzky, but the most important thing is that he seems completely recovered from the concussion he suffered in La Nucía caused by a fall.
