We tried the new SiS Energy Oat Bar and this is what we liked the most
We have tried both flavors of the first Energy Oat Bar from Science in Sport. It is a bar with 40 g of slow-absorbing carbohydrates, 10 g of protein, and a profile designed for consumption before a ride, on long routes at comfortable paces, or as a snack during our daily routine.
The new SiS Energy Oat Bar aims to be your daily fuel on and off the bike
Science in Sport expands its catalog of bars with the Energy Oat Bar, its first offering based on oats. The format is slightly larger than usual for the brand, at 70 g per unit, and the approach is also different: instead of a bar designed to be consumed while cycling during a ride, they aim for a more balanced product to be taken before training or as a snack throughout the day. However, it could also be consumed on long and easy rides.

What do we know so far about the new Scott bike that SCOTT SRAM rode in competition?
The base is whole oats (36%), accompanied by oat syrup, dates, rice flour, and a protein blend of soy and pea. Each 70 g bar provides 255 kcal, 40 g of carbohydrates, 10 g of protein, 4.3 g of fiber, and 15 g of sugars. The blueberry flavor is vegan, while the white chocolate with macadamia flavor is vegetarian.
In the mouth and on the bike
The texture is one of its strengths. It chews effortlessly, does not stick to the palate, nor does it become pasty, which is not always a given with this type of bar. Both flavors are well executed: the blueberry is fresher, while the white chocolate with macadamia is somewhat sweeter without being cloying. Taken half an hour before heading out, it is not heavy, and digestion is smooth.

Where it fits best is as fuel before a ride or as a satisfying snack during the day. For use during high-intensity efforts, the 70 g format requires breaking it or stopping to eat it, and in that regard, gels or the SiS GO Energy Bar at 40 g perform better.
In conclusion, we find it to be a very well-executed bar: natural flavor, pleasant texture, and a balanced nutritional profile between carbohydrates and plant protein. If you are looking for everyday fuel or for long rides, it fits very well.
