We tested the OneUp XC Clips: they are the thinnest on the market, weigh less than XTRs, and cost quite a bit less
26.8 mm is the measurement of the thinnest double-sided automatic pedal currently on the market. The new OneUp XC Clip pedals are lighter than Shimano XTR, thinner than any other option, and about 40 euros cheaper. We tested them at Brújula Bike for several weeks to tell you how they really perform.
We tested the OneUp XC Clip: a minimalist XC pedal that convinces from the first ride
OneUp Components, known until now for its trail and enduro components, has made the leap into the most demanding segment of the automatic market with the XC Clip. The Canadian brand applies its usual philosophy of doing things well without unnecessary frills here.

The first thing that catches your attention when you have them in front of you is how thin they are. The pedal body measures 14.4 mm in thickness, and with the included anchoring mechanism, it totals 26.8 mm. This is not just marketing: they are among the thinnest you can find right now.
The body is made of machined aluminum with a well-balanced platform of 75 x 68 mm: neither huge nor minimalistic. Just enough to provide good support without adding extra weight. Inside, they feature Igus bushings and sealed cartridge bearings, the same configuration already used in the brand's Wave and Clip pedals, so maintenance and spare parts shouldn't be a problem.

Among the details we liked quite a bit is that the tension adjustment has a wider range than usual and includes a visual indicator on the mechanism itself. This, which may seem trivial, allows you to set both pedals exactly the same without counting clicks.
Weight, measurements, and price

With 301 grams per pair, the OneUp XC Clip is about 15 grams lighter than the Shimano XTR M9200 (318 g). It's not a huge difference, but combined with the lower thickness and a price of 159.99 € compared to approximately 200 € for the XTR, the overall package is very competitive.

Test impressions
After several weeks of use on an XC bike with Specialized shoes, the impressions have been very good. The engagement is clean, with a clear click that gives you confidence from the first moment. The release is quite natural, even without fine-tuning the tension too much, and we haven't experienced any accidental disengagement during the test.
Do you notice that they are so thin? Yes, but don't expect something radical. It's a subtle difference, although with the kilometers you do feel a bit closer to the pedal axle, more connected to the bike. If you're coming from "bulkier" pedals, you'll notice it sooner.

The platform also performs well. There are no strange sensations or flexing, whether sitting or standing. And with mud and dirt, under normal conditions, no problems. The design helps to evacuate well, although in very extreme situations, like any SPD system, it has its limits.

Compatibility and maintenance
One of the first questions when changing pedals is usually about the compatibility of the cleats. The OneUp XC Clip is compatible with Shimano SH51 SPD cleats and also with two-bolt Look cleats. OneUp includes its own cleats in the box (recommended for optimal adjustment), but the SPD cleats you already have work without issues.
They also come with 1 mm spacers to adjust the cleat height according to the shoe, and a specific tool to disassemble the bearing system. Sharing a spare parts kit with the brand's Wave and Clip pedals is a plus that you shouldn't overlook for long-term availability.

They don't reinvent anything, but what they do, they do very well
The OneUp XC Clip does exactly what it promises. They don't reinvent anything, but what they do, they do very well. The differentiating factor is that ultra-thin profile, which is noticeable in real use, combined with a competitive weight and an interesting price.

Who are they suitable for? Especially for XC or marathon riders looking to maximize weight and efficiency. Also for gravel if you want automatic but with good performance. And in general, if you're thinking of changing pedals and want something top-notch without going for the most expensive, they are a very serious option within the high-end automatic pedals.
The OneUp XC Clip pedals are available in six colors at a price of 159.99 €.
