We tested the new Scott Addict RC Pro 2025, a bike with few rivals
The Scott Addict RC has been completely revamped in its 2025 version. A reference in the climbing or ultralight bike segment where weight and reactivity are an obsession. It was not an easy task to improve on the previous generation, but we have had the opportunity to ride many kilometers with the new Scott Addict RC Pro 2025 and here we reveal if they have succeeded.
Scott Addict RC: lighter than ever with maximum performance
For some years now, we have seen road bikes moving away from the weight records that were achieved before the total implementation of disc brakes, thicker tires, integration, and other concessions to aerodynamics.
It is true that performance has increased and today's bikes are better despite the weight penalty. But at Scott, they have been tremendously ambitious and set out to match the weight of their historically lightest model without sacrificing any of the performance of a modern bike.

And they have achieved this in the top-of-the-range Ultimate version, reaching an impressive weight of 5.9kg. A drastic weight reduction is reflected in the rest of the range and the Pro model, the same one we have been able to test.
Scott Addict RC Pro, a second-tier model with World Tour level
We are facing a bike that could well be the top of the range and be the standard-bearer defending the brand's colors in high competition.
The frame of the Scott Addict Pro 2025 is made with HMX fibers and they have achieved an impressive weight of 650g in size M. The fork, on the other hand, weighs 295g. Amazing figures, especially considering that there is still a higher-end frame, the one that mounts the Ultimate made with the exclusive HMX-SL fibers.
To achieve this, they have completely redefined the manufacturing process, achieving, among other things, a frame as clean on the inside as on the outside, without the slightest excess of resin or extra material and with a reduced number of carbon pieces to avoid unnecessary overlaps. The shape of each tube has been optimized to obtain the necessary stiffness, avoiding the addition of reinforcements.
In addition to the weight reduction in the frame itself, they have paid special attention to all the hardware, shaving off every possible gram. From the rear derailleur hanger to every piece that makes up the headset has been lightened.
Special mention for the seatpost attachment system, which, in addition to being lighter, is comfortable and reliable to use, and puts less tension on the seatpost itself, allowing them to lighten it thanks to this.
The launch of this new Addict 2025 is accompanied by a new seatpost and a new integrated cockpit.
The cockpit is the new Syncros IC-R100-S, which now has a slight flare to place the levers in a slightly more aerodynamic position. In addition, they have also managed to lighten it, in this case by shaving off 40 grams compared to the previous version. And to mount the GPS, there is a support where the great effort to shave off every gram of weight is also evident, opting for a lattice-type construction as the best option.
The seatpost on our test bike is the Syncros SP-R100-SL, which, as we have mentioned, has also been lightened.
In the design of the Addict 2025, they have taken into account the most current trends, and although our bike comes with 30mm tires, both the frame and the fork can accommodate tires up to 34mm.
In the geometry, we find subtle changes, always faithful to the reactive character that is sought. The reach increases slightly in all sizes and, like in the previous version, the head tube and seat tube angles vary slightly depending on the size, as does the bottom bracket height, which has been reduced in all sizes.
The setup of this Addict RC Pro, aside from the mentioned frame, fork, cockpit, and seatpost kit, is difficult to improve.
Starting with the Syncros Capital 1.0S wheels with a 40mm profile. These wheels have a hookless rim with an internal width of 25mm. These rims are combined with the renowned DT Swiss 240 hubs and flat DT Aerolite spokes to complete a light and reliable set.
Mounted on these wheels are the Schwalbe Pro One TL-Easy tires in a 30mm width. In our bike, they came already set up tubeless.
The groupset chosen for this model is the complete Shimano Dura-Ace, with a transmission that combines an 11-34 cassette and 52x36 chainrings.
The ensemble is completed with a Syncros Belcarra Regular 1.0 saddle with a width of 130mm and carbon rails.
As an accessory, there is an integrated mini-tool in the handlebar that combines a 6mm allen key and a torx 25, with which we can adjust the majority of the bike's screws, as well as the wheel thru-axles.
The Scott Addict RC Pro, with the spectacular setup mentioned, is priced at 8,699€. Considering the market situation, this seems like a truly competitive price.
First impressions of the Addict Pro 2025
After attending the international presentation of the new Addict 2025 range, we were fortunate to have the Addict Pro 2025 at home where we could enjoy and evaluate it calmly and with perspective.
We loved the bike from the first moment. Although these types of bikes, less aerodynamic and more focused on lightness, are usually more sober and less spectacular, the truth is that the lines of the Addict are very attractive and the integration has taken a step further, achieving a great aesthetic result.
As an example, we observe the cockpit area and the headset. Now the headset spacers and stem attachment are slightly smaller than in the previous version. The cockpit itself has very striking aero shapes.
The frame lines exude harmony, and its fairly generous diagonal tube balances the whole. In general, the shapes are quite rounded. The top tube is flattened on the top, but in any case with fairly smooth edges.
Although it is primarily a climbing bike focused on lightness, we do see some concessions to aerodynamics. For example, it uses an aero-shaped seatpost and seat tube, with a truncated profile, as is the trend. We also see some profiled areas like the junction of the headset with the diagonal tube, and also at the junction of the seatstays with the seat tube.
Some aspects that caught our attention were the generous fork width to mount tires up to 34mm, the seatpost attachment for its size and integration, and the mounting of 40mm profile rims that give a racing character to the whole.
And to finish with the aesthetic theme, we must say that the decoration of this model seems to us the most attractive of the entire range, and in person, it gains a lot, being elegant without being too sober.
It was time to weigh the bike before putting on our pedals, but even before seeing the data, it is already evident as soon as you lift the bike that it is going to be an excellent figure.
We fulfilled the formality and the bike showed a weight of 6.69kg. A spectacular figure considering it is a size L and also includes the integrated tool, the GPS mount, and both bottle cages.
On the road
The time came to adjust the position and start pedaling. We have to say that we tested a size L and our ideal size would be M, but we had no problem beyond being a bit long.
From the first meters, the lightness of the Addict RC Pro is manifest. It is a bike that accelerates very quickly and seems to infect us with that racing spirit that makes us give it our all from the start.
We have to say that, back in the day, we tested the previous version of the Addict RC in its Ultimate version, and the main characteristic that impressed us was the incredible stiffness of the whole, which ensures total energy transfer to the rear wheel.
Well, in this Addict RC Pro, the sensations in this regard are quite similar, and go beyond the typical data that brands offer every time they release a new model. It is a sensation that is truly noticeable, and in this case, it is a slightly lighter bike than that version, despite not being the top of the range.
This combination of incredible lightness and stiffness makes the Scott Addict RC a thoroughbred. With this type of bike, we always end up pedaling more time standing up, as it is an acceleration sensation that hooks you.
When we have a good cruising speed and a short climb appears, that's when the Addict RC Pro shines. We stand up and the bike climbs without losing speed.
On long climbs and mountain passes, we change positions more, but in any case, the Addict RC makes climbing very easy.
But it's not all about climbing, and we had to test the bike descending at a certain speed. In this situation, the Addict RC is agile but predictable. The stiffness of the whole makes the response firm and stable to our movements. It is a bike quick to react, but we have felt it to be controllable at all times.
SCOTT boasts of having increased the comfort of the Addict RC by 36% compared to the previous version, and partly this has been thanks to a seatpost and seat tube that have more freedom to absorb vibrations.
And the truth is that despite being such a racing bike, focused on pure performance, it is very enjoyable to spend hours pedaling on it. In addition to the advances they have been able to achieve in this regard, we have tubeless 30mm tires, mounted on very wide rims, which make a very clear difference in ride comfort.
We have tested this tire configuration with large volume and wide rim several times, and although for many years it has been suggested otherwise, the truth is that the rolling is excellent, and when the road surface is not as smooth as desired, they make a very clear difference in good rolling and comfort.
Regarding the new Syncros IC-R100-SL cockpit, we have found it very ergonomic in all its grip areas, and that slight flare it has makes it more natural to grip the handlebars down. It also achieves a slight inward orientation of the levers naturally, favoring comfort as well as aerodynamics.
And we have to mention, of course, the excellent level of precision and smoothness of the Shimano Dura-Ace groupset. The levers reached a really good level of ergonomics in their latest version, and the reliability and stability of the braking with their discs are outstanding.
We also like the staggered cassette. With the 12-speed it is feasible to use an 11-34, like the one on the Addict, and so we enjoy a range for everyone on a competition bike, without excessive jumps between sprockets.
Final conclusions
After testing the Scott Addict RC Pro 2025 on our roads, it is clear to us that it has improved on its previous version and currently few rivals can be found in mountainous terrain. First and foremost, it stands out for its lightness, which is very noticeable when it comes to climbing or simply accelerating in a change of pace.
On the flat it also performs excellently and offers a very good ride comfort for such a racing bike.
In the professional peloton we see many aero bikes, which can offer an advantage when there are no big slopes and you ride very very fast, but for an amateur, even if he competes at a certain level, lightness is a factor that will be noticed from the beginning and at any speed at which we ride. So this type of bike, theoretically a climber, seems to us to be the logical choice for a large majority of users, and within this segment, the new Scott Addict RC 2025 has great arguments to be one of the leaders.
