We tested the Gobik Madison K10 shorts: the quality of the X bib shorts in a full format

We have tested the new Madison from Gobik, their most ambitious summer onesie. Seamless construction, K10 chamois, and a leg finish inherited from the X shorts that significantly changes the user experience. We have used it for several weeks on road rides lasting between two and five hours, in temperatures ranging from 22 to 32 °C, and here are our impressions.

Gobik Madison, weeks of real use with the brand's most advanced onesie

The Madison is Gobik's latest onesie for summer, and beyond the aerodynamic wrapping or the list of technical fabrics, the first thing that stands out when you pick it up is how well the shorts inside are designed. It shares a lot of technology with the Gobik X, the shorts that the brand introduced a few months ago and that has quickly become a reference.

Construction and Patterning

As soon as you take it out of the bag, its credentials are evident. The construction is by bonding, with thermally sealed joints instead of traditional seams, so the garment is very clean both inside and out. The upper part incorporates a structured fabric with raised lines on the sleeves and front, designed to manage airflow, and the front zipper is inverted and hidden behind a protective strip.

The patterning is clearly Racing compared to a Brooklyn; the Madison is more fitted, especially in the chest and sides. The shoulders and chest area feature a siliconized finish on the inner side, and the first time you put it on, you can feel it: when you zip it up, the upper part stays where you leave it. There is no usual sensation of having to readjust the jersey after an hour.

The most obvious feature of the Madison is that the upper part does not move. The siliconized front makes the garment stick to the body, eliminating the classic problem of a jersey shifting.

The Shorts: The Heritage of the X

This is the area where we spent the most time. The lower part of this onesie uses a double mesh polyamide fabric with a raw cut on the leg, with no seams on the thigh and without the classic elastic band at the end. The support is provided by the fabric itself through compression and laser finishing. It is exactly the same approach as the new Gobik X.

The sensation while riding is as if you were wearing nothing on your thigh, the shorts do not ride up, and there is no circular pressure mark on the thigh when you take it off. Additionally, the garment feels more comfortable on long rides because it eliminates a pressure point that many cyclists consider inevitable. The downside is that you need to get the size right: without an elastic band, all the support work is done by the pattern. If your size falls right between two, it is advisable to try it on first.

The Madison onesie features the K10 chamois that Elastic Interface® manufactures exclusively for Gobik. It is dual-density, made with EIT ECO Carbonium Flash fabric, anti-static and bacteriostatic, and has a central channel that promotes blood flow. The brand claims a performance of about 8 hours, and from what we have tested, that figure is realistic.

For summer rides of any distance and for gran fondos, it performs without question. For multi-day bikepacking or cold weather rides, there are more specific options in the brand's catalog, such as the G10 from GRIT, but for the intended use of the Madison, the K10 is the logical choice.

The Madison Onesie on the Bike

The first pedal strokes are the most surprising. It weighs very little—around 260 g in size M—and that, in a onesie, is noticeable. The freedom of movement is total and, more importantly, in an aggressive position on the handlebars, there are no folds or pulls in the lumbar area.

The heat management is one of the best features of the Madison. The structured panels quickly wick away moisture, and with the zipper slightly open, it ventilates well. We have ridden with it at 30-32 °C without ending up soaked, something that is not always achieved with such fitted onesies. The sun protection is UPF 50+, a detail that is appreciated on long routes in full sun.

Where the set is most appreciated is on long rides in the heat: you forget about the garment, and that, in a onesie, is already saying a lot.

On the less bright side, the range of use is narrow. Below 18-20 °C, the lack of insulation starts to be noticeable, and above 33-34 °C, the tight fit becomes more apparent. This is not a onesie designed for year-round use: it is a summer tool. The inverted zipper, moreover, is somewhat stiffer to handle while riding with gloves than conventional ones. These are details that did not bother us, but it is good to know them before buying.

Conclusion

The Madison is Gobik's most complete onesie for summer to date. What we liked the most is that it is not just another onesie in the catalog: it brings specific and well-executed features. The seamless construction, the siliconized front that keeps the upper part in place, and, above all, that leg fixation inherited from the X shorts that changes the sensation of use on long rides.

It has a clear usage profile—cyclists who train hard or compete in warm climates—and within that profile, it is hard to find significant drawbacks. Anyone coming from the X shorts who liked them will quickly understand why this onesie works so well.
