We spotted the future Cannondale Lefty and it comes with important changes
The Cannondale Factory Racing team made its debut in Nove Mesto and, in addition to its eye-catching aero wheels, showcased a completely new Lefty fork that is already being used in competition by all its riders. Although the brand has not yet officially announced any new model, the images seen during the XCO World Cup 2026 make it clear that Cannondale is working on a deep evolution of its iconic single-arm fork.

Cannondale is already testing a new Lefty fork in competition
The current Lefty Ocho has remained practically unchanged since 2018 and continues to be one of the most recognizable forks in mountain biking. However, after eight seasons at the highest level of the World Cup, all indications suggest that Cannondale is preparing a new generation with multiple technical changes and a revised design.

A more streamlined Lefty with a new crown
Its design is evolutionary, and at first glance, the new fork maintains the classic philosophy of the modern Lefty, with an inverted construction and a single arm, but when compared to the Ocho, there are quite a few differences. The upper part of the assembly features a much smoother transition between the leg and the crown.

The integration of the crown with the steering also changes. In the current Lefty, there is a very marked step at the junction with the frame, while in this prototype, that area appears much cleaner and visually refined.

New remote controls and changes in the cartridge
Another area where the most changes are noticeable is in the remote lockout. The upper control maintains mechanical cable lockout, something common in Cannondale, but the classic external manual compression adjustment located at the top of the fork is gone.

Now there is a rubber cap integrated into the front of the arm, suggesting a completely new internal adjustment system. Although there are no official details, all signs point to Cannondale having developed a more advanced cartridge with independent compression adjustments.

Different setups seen among the team riders also catch the eye, especially in the joint management of the suspension lockout and the dropper post.
New protector and redesign of the StopLock system
The new Lefty also incorporates visible changes in the arm protector and in the routing of the brake hose. The central window of the protector is now larger, which the team takes advantage of to place the competition chip.

But one of the most important changes seems to be in the StopLock brake caliper mounting system. Cannondale has completely redesigned this area with a new quick-release piece and a different position for the caliper adapter. Although the technical details are still unknown, this redesign could facilitate the use of different disc sizes or simplify the removal of the front wheel.

At the bottom, there is also a new rebound dial with a design different from the current one, more rounded and clean, although for now, it is unclear whether it implies internal changes in hydraulic operation.

This new Lefty does not seem like a simple experimental prototype. All the team riders are using it in competition, and the finish seen in Nové Město has a practically definitive appearance.
For now, Cannondale has not confirmed either the name or the release date of this new generation, but given the product's development status and its constant presence in races, it seems that the official announcement could come sooner than expected.
