Vingegaard will have to race the Giro time trial in a suit designed for Evenepoel
Jonas Vingegaard will face the time trial of stage 10 of the Giro d'Italia this Tuesday with a very different outfit from the usual Visma Lease a Bike. The Danish rider, leader of the mountain classification and wearer of the blue jersey, will be required to compete in the official suit provided by Castelli for the race leaders. And the most striking thing is that this design was originally created for Remco Evenepoel.
Vingegaard will race in the Giro time trial with technology developed for Evenepoel
The situation had raised doubts in recent hours because Visma has one of the most advanced aerodynamic programs in the peloton and Vingegaard usually uses a specific skinsuit developed together with Nimbl and tested in a wind tunnel. However, the UCI regulations require leaders of the classifications to use the official garments provided by the organization. The rule even includes economic sanctions, exclusion, or preventing the start in case of non-compliance.

Castelli has confirmed to Cyclingnews that the suit that Vingegaard will wear in the time trial this Tuesday is directly derived from the work done with Remco Evenepoel during the 2024 and 2025 seasons, when the Belgian was competing with Soudal-QuickStep.

Far from considering it a disadvantage, Castelli claims that the official Giro suit could even be faster than the one normally used by Visma Lease a Bike. The Italian brand asserts that all the knowledge accumulated during the project developed with Evenepoel has ultimately been transferred to the official suits of the leaders of the Grand Tours.
For this time trial, Castelli has prepared specific versions for all classifications. In addition to Vingegaard with the blue jersey, Afonso Eulálio will race dressed in pink as the overall leader, Paul Magnier will wear the cyclamen suit for the points classification, and Mathys Rondel will dress in white in the young riders' classification. The brand also sent representatives and a seamstress to the riders' hotels to make personalized adjustments before the stage.
