Tom Pidcock's Q36.5 is left out of the Tour de France
Although the season that Q36.5 is having is formidable and all bets were sure that it would receive an invitation to the Tour de France. However, the French race, which has announced today the wildcards for the 2025 edition after the UCI's announcement of which races could have an extra invitation, has not selected Tom Pidcock's team.
TotalEnergies, Uno-X Mobility, and Tudor receive invitations to the Tour de France 2025
Several hours ago, the UCI confirmed what was already an open secret: the expansion to 23 participating teams in the Grand Tours was officially announced, thus satisfying one of the recurring requests from ASO and RCS since the decision was made to reduce the number of team members.
Therefore, the three Grand Tours will have 3 wildcards to invite three Professional category teams of their choice. A decision that usually comes with some controversy as the selection does not always align with sporting merits but also factors such as the nationality of the selected teams or commercial aspects.

Shortly after the UCI's change in regulations regarding invitations was announced, the Tour de France revealed its three wildcards that have been awarded to the best French team in the Professional category, TotalEnergies; the Norwegians from Uno-X Mobility who have been among the protagonists in recent editions, and the surprising choice of Tudor with Julian Alaphilippe when everyone assumed that this spot would go to Q36.5.
Therefore, Tom Pidcock will not be able to compete in the French race and now all indications point to them focusing their efforts on the Giro d'Italia where all bets suggest he will be selected, especially since there is an extra spot available after Lotto relinquished the place that, along with Israel-PremierTech, belonged to them as the best Pro Tour teams of the 2024 season.
The remaining spots in the Tour de France will, by regulation, go to Lotto and Israel-PremierTech, as we mentioned, due to their status as the best Professional category teams during the past season and to the 18 World Tour category teams.
