The Giro d'Italia 2025 will start in Albania on Friday, May 9, 2025 and with the notable absence of Tadej Poga?ar, winner the previous year, among the main favorites for victory are Primo? Rogli? (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe), recent winner of the Volta a Catalunya, Juan Ayuso (UAE Team Emirates-XRG), Richard Carapaz (EF Education-EasyPost), Adam Yates (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) and Colombian Egan Bernal (Ineos Grenadiers), who already won the Giro in 2021.
Along with Pidcock's team, special invitations were also received by Tudor Pro Cycling, led by Julian Alaphilippe, as well as Team Polti Visit Malta and VF Group BardianiCSF - Faizanè. These teams will join Israel-Premier Tech, totaling four ProTeam teams specially invited for this edition.
This increase in the number of teams comes after the recent decision of the International Cycling Union to allow the participation of 23 teams, instead of the usual 22.
