The Zéfal Mt. Mini pump has become essential on our MTB outings: sturdy, reliable, and with great capacity
Currently we find in the market a multitude of options to inflate our tires when we are on the road. From compressed CO2 bottles to mini electric compressors. But the traditional pump will never die because its reliability and the fact that it can be used infinitely without recharges or replacements is unquestionable. If in addition a pump has the quality and price of the Zéfal Mt. Mini it becomes an accessory to consider. We have been testing it and it has passed with flying colors.
Zéfal Mt. Mini: a mini pump with great volume
Among the pumps designed to carry with us on our routes, there are options that seek maximum lightness and minimum volume of space, to gain in portability at the expense of losing inflation capacity and ease of use. And there are pumps that prioritize performance and capacity. The Zéfal Mt. Mini that we have tested is one of the latter.
In Zéfal's catalog we find various options of mini pumps and the Mt.Mini that we are testing here is not the smallest and lightest since what it prioritizes is effectiveness. In addition, it is clearly oriented towards MTB, where the volume of the tires is greater.

It has the right size to still be feasible to carry it in the pocket of a jersey, although part of it will protrude, but the most practical thing is to attach it to the bike, and for this a rubber fixing clip is included that adjusts with velcro, so we can attach it almost anywhere on the bike.
The pump is made of aluminum and stands out for its robustness and durability.
The valve cap and locking lever have a rainbow finish that gives it an aesthetic touch.
The valve is reversible depending on whether you want to use it on a Presta or Schrader valve. Here we would have preferred a universal valve, but we understand that this way it is more reliable and durable and, in addition, nowadays, Presta valves are what we find in more than 90% of bikes, so we will hardly ever have to change the position of the rubber.
A quality detail in its construction is the magnetic closure. When we compress it completely, a magnet prevents it from accidentally opening.
The valve of the Mt. Mini is flexible and extendable, so pulling on it releases a hose that allows us to inflate the tire without damaging the bike's valve.
The maximum recommended pressure for this pump is 4 bars, or 58 psi. Ideal for use in MTB, where it is currently rare for pressures to reach 2 bars. But it can also be feasible for use in gravel, although Zéfal has a specific model in its catalog.
The downside of having a robust pump with generous volume is the weight, as it is somewhat high. Although on our scale it marked a few grams less than advertised, as it stayed at exactly 200 grams, compared to the 208 grams it announces.
The Zéfal Mt. Mini tested
When we received the pump we did our first tests before going out and we were able to verify the ease of use and speed in inflation.
The valve attaches to the valve with enough firmness thanks to its locking lever and, thanks to the extendable hose, we can pump without fear of damaging the valve itself. We did a test with a 29" wheel and 2.35" thickness and, from zero, we needed 60 pumps to bring it to its operating pressure, that is, in less than a minute we can inflate any MTB tire.
We have been carrying it during several routes and its support has not given us any problems, forgetting that it is there.
Just keep in mind that, if we carry such an effective pump as this Zéfal Mt. Mini, and in our group they have already seen it in operation, in case of any puncture or loss of pressure that occurs in the group, we will have to use it, as everyone will look to us for help.
If this is not a problem, we can purchase the Zéfal Mt. Mini at a price of 39.95€
