Wilier Vittoria MTB Factory Team leaves XCM to focus on XCO
In a recent statement, the team communicated that this is a strategic decision for the future based on the importance and visibility that XCO is gaining in the World Cup.
The decision has been made in collaboration with the main sponsor Wilier Triestina and taking advantage of the end of contract of their main stars in XCM, Fabian Rabensteiner, Samuele Porro, and Daniel Geismayr.
To fans, it is a surprising news considering that Wilier Vittoria, with Rabensteiner at the helm, has been able to achieve victories in several XCM World Cup races, win the overall classification, or become the European Champion. The team has also been a protagonist in the best stage races in the world with a brilliant performance in the Cape Epic and victories in the Andalucía Bike Race, Swiss Epic, or the Dolomiti Superbike.

"The decision to focus all our resources on Cross Country for the 2025 season is a strategic option for Wilier Triestina. Cross Country is a discipline that offers enormous global visibility, embodies the excellence of off-road racing, and is perfectly aligned with our vision of growth in the off-road world. This commitment reflects our ambition to become a reference point on the international stage."
"We would like to express our deep gratitude to Massimo De Bertolis, without whom Wilier's entry into mountain biking would not have started almost 10 years ago, as well as to Fabian, Samuele, Daniel, and all the staff who, over the years, have brought prestige to our brand with memorable victories and unforgettable moments," explained the Gastaldello family, responsible for the team.
There is no doubt that the goal of the new Wilier Vittoria will be to be among the top 15 teams in the ranking to enjoy the Elite UCI World Series title that will give them access to compete in all XCO World Cup races under preferential conditions.
The team's director, Marco Trentin, has hinted that the future of the team will be revealed in the coming weeks with "some exciting changes."
