The UCI withdraws the fine from Pogacar after Liège
The world champion had been fined more than €5,000 for an alleged infraction related to his rainbow jersey during the podium ceremony in Liège. A decision that was difficult to understand from the very beginning and that opened the debate both for its basis and for its severity.
The UCI rectifies and withdraws the fine from Pogacar after Liège
The scenario has completely changed in a matter of hours, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport after contacting the UAE Team Emirates-XRG team, the fine has finally been annulled. The sanction is no longer listed in the official report of the jury, so Pogacar will not have to face any payment.

The withdrawal of the sanction is still marked by the lack of explanations from the very beginning. Neither the race jury nor the UCI itself detailed what specific element of the jersey violated the regulations, beyond a generic reference to the placement of advertising.

This absence of clarity had fueled the debate since the fine was announced, especially since it was an unusual amount for this type of infraction. Some interpretations pointed to a possible problem with the position of the team logo in relation to the rainbow stripes, although there was never any official confirmation.
Pogacar still maintains his fourth victory in La Doyenne, but now without the economic asterisk that accompanied his triumph for a few hours.
