The Orbea Monegros is considered the most emblematic mountain biking event in Europe, and in the 2025 edition, which will take place next April, it will blow out 25 candles with a historic edition marked by significant changes.

Since the opening of registrations, the organization had already anticipated novelties, but now, a few months before the event, some of the most relevant changes are confirmed. One of the most outstanding is the official classifications, a move that responds both to the event's safety and to the growing demand from cyclists looking to measure their performance in this challenge.

If in previous editions the timing system was merely informative, in 2025 it will become an official time record, allowing for classifications to be established in different categories. This change turns it into a competitive event and, furthermore, the recorded time will be used to organize the starting grid for 2026.

The organization emphasizes that despite this transformation, the essence of Orbea Monegros will remain. It will continue to be an event open to all levels, combining the spirit of adventure with the possibility of competing on equal terms.

News in categories, modalities, and route

The Orbea Monegros 2025 will have classifications by distance and gender, allowing participants to compete in different modalities with greater equity. Both MTB and gravel cyclists will have their own classifications, while pedal-assist bikes can participate, but without the option to enter the official results table.

This edition will feature renewed circuits and cyclists will be able to choose between two routes:

• Marathon: 113 km with 1,200 meters of elevation gain
• Half Marathon: 86 km with 925 meters of elevation gain

Both routes will have new sections and renewed sectors in the region of Los Monegros, including the mythical tozal de la Cobeta. The combination of arid landscape, long straights, and unpredictable weather conditions will continue to make this event an unforgettable physical and mental challenge.

In addition to consolidating itself as one of the most prestigious MTB events in Europe, Orbea Monegros is a key pillar for the economy and tourism of the region. Declared a Tourist Interest Activity in 2023, the event will attract more than 20,000 people over the weekend, generating a positive impact on hospitality and local commerce in Huesca and Aragon.

The organization indicates that registrations are still open, but spots are about to be filled, and with the changes that will shape the future of the event, this could be a unique opportunity to be part of the history of Orbea Monegros.
