The new XCM World Cup debuts in Capoliveri with victory for Wout Alleman and Rosa Van Doorn
The UCI XCM World Cup has debuted in 2025 with a new independent organization, separate from Warner. And it did so at the iconic Capoliveri Legend Cup, a spectacular race of 65 kilometers and 2,400 meters of elevation in which Wout Alleman and Rosa Van Doorn were the fastest.
The HERO UCI Cross-country Marathon World Cup 2025 kicks off in Capoliveri with victories for Wout Alleman and Rosa Van Doorn
The first event of the HERO UCI Cross-country Marathon World Cup 2025 brought together 2,247 cyclists representing 24 countries in Capoliveri, Elba Island, Italy - 189 in the elite category and 19 with a master's license.
The victory in the men's category went to Belgian Wout Alleman (Team Buff-Megamo), who crossed the finish line in 2:59:42. "Today I felt in great shape. I know these trails well since I competed here in 2021. I knew it would be a battle with Eskil Evensen and Gioele De Cosmo, and I am happy to wear the leader's jersey in the next stage," Alleman declared after the race.

Rounding out the men's podium were Gioele De Cosmo (Italy, Team Torpado Kenda FSA) with a time of 3:00:01, and his teammate Fabian Rabensteiner, 39 seconds behind the second-place finisher.
In the women's race, Dutch rider Rosa Van Doorn (Team Buff-Megamo) dominated the competition with a time of 3:37:15. "My motto is go with the flow, and that's what I did. At kilometer 20 I fell behind, but I focused, made a comeback, and in the end I was alone, time trialing. It's been incredible: the race, the island, and our team, because Wout also won. I think I've earned an ice cream!" the winner commented with laughter.
The women's podium was completed by Lejla Njemcevic (Bosnia), second at 5:36, and German rider Adelheid Morath, third with 3:43:33.
The HERO UCI Marathon World Cup also offers the opportunity for amateur cyclists with a master's license to compete for the title. In this category, the winners were Andrea Bravin (Italy) in men and Kamila Gurzynska (Poland) in women.
Gerhard Vanzi, president of the HERO UCI Marathon World Cup 2025, highlighted the excellent organizational work: "We knew about the high level of the Capoliveri Legend Cup after hosting the UCI international marathon in 2023, and today they have proven it again. We are very satisfied with this first stage. Now the focus is on the next event in Andorra."
The overall leaders, Alleman and Van Doorn, wore the leader's jersey on the podium, the same one they will wear in the second stage to be held on June 1st in Naturland, Andorra.
