The most superstitious number in cycling inspires the new Red Bull jersey for the Tour
Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe has presented the special jersey with which it will compete in the 2026 Tour de France, a very symbolic edition for the German team, which this year will participate for the thirteenth time in the Grande Boucle. And precisely that number 13, traditionally associated with superstitions in cycling, has become the central element of the design.

Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe makes number 13 the star of its special jersey for the 2026 Tour de France
The team led by Remco Evenepoel and Florian Lipowitz will wear a kit featuring a huge inverted number 13 that runs across almost the entire jersey. The design is completed with a gradient that transitions from white shoulders to a deep blue at the bottom, following the same aesthetic line that the squad has also debuted on their bikes for the French round.
Number 13, between superstition and the team's history
Few numbers carry as much symbolic weight in cycling as 13. For decades, it has been common to see riders place the number upside down to try to ward off bad luck. A tradition that remains very much alive even in an era dominated by data, technology, and scientific preparation.

Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe has wanted to embrace that history and make 13 the axis of its image for the Tour. Furthermore, the team recalls that both Remco Evenepoel and Florian Lipowitz achieved their first professional victory wearing precisely that number.
The team itself also has good memories associated with this number. In its debut at the Tour de France in 2014, it was stage 13 that allowed the then Bora-Argon 18 to make itself known to the general public. Four years later, in 2018, the team achieved a victory precisely on the thirteenth day of racing.
The squad believes that number 13 also represents the journey taken since its beginnings as a small structure invited through a wildcard to becoming one of the teams with real aspirations for the overall classification of the Tour de France.
In 2019, another inverted number 13 accompanied the team in one of its most successful campaigns, with Peter Sagan winning his historic green jersey and the team achieving its best performance in the fight for the general classification up to that point.

For all these reasons, Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe has decided to pay tribute to that number in a season that is especially important for the structure. A design that will not go unnoticed on the roads of the 2026 Tour de France and that will serve to celebrate the team's thirteenth participation in the most important race in the world.
