The most exclusive luxury arrives in cycling with Colnago and Richard Mille
Colnago has taken an unusual step outside the world of cycling to present one of the most exclusive collaborations in its history. The Italian brand and the Swiss manufacturer Richard Mille have jointly developed the new RM 64-01 Tourbillon Colnago, a high-end watch limited to only 50 units worldwide and conceived as a mechanical interpretation of the technical and visual codes of the bicycles from the Cambiago brand.

The collaboration stems from a relationship that already existed within the professional peloton. Richard Mille has agreements with figures such as Mathieu van der Poel, Mark Cavendish, and Tadej Pogačar, in addition to being linked to the UAE Team Emirates-XRG, while the Slovenian has been competing for years on Colnago bicycles.
More than just using the name of the Italian brand as a decorative element, the project aims to transfer some of the most recognizable features of Colnago bicycles to the watch. The skeletonized movement has been designed to resemble the structure of a racing frame, with an open architecture that makes a large part of its components visible and visually reproduces concepts such as tubes, geometries, or even the transmission of a bicycle.

One of the most striking elements is the grade 5 titanium bridges with shapes inspired by the historic Gilco tubes and the Master frames that made Colnago famous during the eighties. There are also references to the handmade C series produced in Cambiago and a color combination of white, blue, and gold taken directly from some of the brand's most exclusive bicycles, including the current C68.

The RM 64-01 incorporates a manual-winding tourbillon movement composed of 274 pieces and developed around three concepts that are also part of Colnago's cycling DNA: lightness, rigidity, and efficiency. The power reserve reaches approximately 65 hours, and the set uses an ultra-lightweight skeletonized titanium structure with specific treatments to reduce weight and increase strength.

The case also follows the same philosophy. It is made of white and blue Quartz TPT, a composite material commonly used by Richard Mille for its mechanical properties and lightness. For the first time in one of the brand's sports watches, 5N red gold also plays an important role in the exterior design.
The connection with Colnago is also present in small details throughout the piece. The traditional clover that identifies the Italian brand is present on the crown, while the hands have been designed to visually resemble the crank arms of a bicycle.

For Nicola Rosin, CEO of Colnago, the project represents much more than a commercial collaboration. “With Richard Mille, we have found a partner capable of interpreting our history, our codes, and our idea of performance through a completely new language,” he explained during the presentation. “Beyond technical excellence, every Colnago product carries the authenticity of our brand: craftsmanship, heritage, and a constant pursuit of mechanical and aesthetic beauty.”
The presence of Tadej Pogačar in both brands further strengthens the relationship between cycling and high-end watchmaking. The current reference of the professional peloton competes with Colnago bicycles in the UAE Team Emirates-XRG and is also part of Richard Mille's group of ambassadors, becoming one of the most visible links in this collaboration.

With a production limited to just 50 pieces, the RM 64-01 Tourbillon Colnago ranks among the most exclusive creations ever linked to cycling and represents a unique interpretation of how the design principles of a racing bicycle can be transferred to the world of high-end watchmaking.

As is customary with this type of watch, the price has not been made public, but it is typical for a high-end Richard Mille piece with a tourbillon movement, extremely limited production, and advanced materials like Quartz TPT to be priced in the hundreds of thousands of euros. In fact, many comparable models from the Swiss brand are marketed between half a million and a million euros, and even exceed that barrier in some special editions, so it is likely that the RM 64-01 Tourbillon Colnago will become one of the most exclusive and sought-after creations linked to the world of cycling.
