Pogacar debuts the Colnago TT2: features, price, and weight of his new time trial bike
After several months competing in the prototype phase, the new Colnago TT2 is now a reality. The Italian brand has officially presented its new time trial bike developed alongside UAE Team Emirates-XRG and UAE Team ADQ, a completely redesigned platform that will debut this Saturday at the Tour de Switzerland with Tadej Pogacar as the main ambassador.
Colnago TT2: Pogacar's time trial bike is now official and arrives with 550 grams less
Although the TT1 was already considered one of the fastest bikes in the WorldTour peloton, Colnago claims that the evolution of time trial cycling has forced a rethinking of the concept. Current time trials are no longer completely flat courses where aerodynamics is everything. More and more climbs, technical sections, constant accelerations, and uphill finishes require lighter and more manageable bikes.
With this idea, the TT2 was born, a bike that maintains the obsession with aerodynamic efficiency but incorporates a significant weight reduction and a completely revised geometry.

Counter-steering, braking, and tracing: the basics for improving your curve handling
The most striking figure of the project is the weight reduction achieved compared to the previous generation. The set formed by frame, fork, seat post, cockpit, and integrated components goes from 2,785 grams to 2,240 grams, a difference of approximately 550 grams.

Breaking down the components, the frame reduces its weight from 1,279 to 985 grams, while the fork drops from 530 to just 393 grams. The seat post also notably thins, going from 295 to 205 grams.
To achieve this, Colnago has completely redesigned the internal structure of the frame, simplifying joints, optimizing load paths, and developing a new carbon layup with a higher presence of high-modulus fibers.
The bottom bracket area has also been redesigned to improve torsional stiffness and pedaling efficiency using less material.
Faster than the TT1 despite being much lighter
Reducing weight without losing aerodynamic efficiency was the project's great challenge. According to data provided by Colnago after wind tunnel tests and CFD simulations, the TT2 achieves an aerodynamic improvement over the TT1 equivalent to about 2 watts of savings in real-world usage conditions.

A large part of that work has focused on the front area of the bike. The TT2 features a new integrated cockpit that is only 360 mm wide between centers, a new fork, and an extremely narrow head tube that reduces its minimum width to just 32 mm.
Despite incorporating a larger tire clearance and a completely new front architecture, the frontal area remains practically identical to that of the TT1.
New fork and conventional steering
One of the most important changes is at the front. The TT1 used a very characteristic bayonet-style fork.
In the TT2, it completely disappears to make way for a much more conventional configuration. The new fork uses a 25 mm head tube integrated within an extremely narrow front. The brake hoses are channeled through a specific structural expander before entering the frame.

In addition to reducing weight, this solution simplifies maintenance and adjustments, which is especially important for teams, mechanics, and individual users.
More stable when lateral wind appears
Colnago has placed a lot of emphasis on an aspect that is becoming increasingly important in competition: stability. The new aerodynamic sections have been designed to generate more progressive lateral forces when the wind hits from different angles.

In tests conducted by the brand, the TT2 shows lower lateral force values than the TT1 when yaw angles increase, reducing the need for constant corrections on the handlebars. In practice, this allows maintaining the aerodynamic position for longer and concentrating more energy on producing power.
A completely new geometry
The TT2 also features a revised geometry from top to bottom. For the first time, an XS size appears within the range, which now consists of four sizes: XS, S, M, and L.
Additionally, medium and large sizes increase their stack to facilitate higher positions without resorting to large spacer towers. The goal is to allow a much greater adjustment range and better adapt to current bike fitting trends, especially among long-distance specialists and triathletes.
The new seat post will also be available in two versions with a setback of 0 mm and 22.5 mm.
A bottle designed to generate speed
Another of the most curious elements of the project is the new Aero Bottle system. Far from being a simple bottle, Colnago considers it an active part of the bike's aerodynamics. Its design has been developed simultaneously with the frame to take advantage of the airflow circulating between the cyclist's legs and the lower area of the main triangle.

The system uses Fidlock magnetic fastening and will be delivered as standard with all TT2 frames. Interestingly, UAE Team Emirates-XRG will not use this system during 2026 due to sponsorship agreements and will continue to use an aerodynamic bottle from Elite integrated via a specific bottle cage developed by Colnago.
Official debut with Pogacar at the Tour de Switzerland
The TT2 first appeared in competition during the prologue of the Tour de Romandie, although still in prototype configuration.

Its definitive debut will arrive this Saturday, June 20, during the individual time trial of the Tour de Switzerland, where Tadej Pogacar will use the final production version for the first time.
Price and availability
The frame will be available starting late September 2026 with a price of 7,040 euros for the frameset, which includes frame, fork, integrated cockpit, seat post, and Aero Bottle system with Fidlock technology.
