The legendary cork tape from Cinelli evolves 40 years later with new Pro Race and Gravel versions
Cinelli recovers one of its most iconic products to adapt it to current demands. The Italian brand has presented a new range of handlebar tapes that expands its catalog for both road and gravel.
From classic cork to modern gravel, this is the new range of handlebar tapes from Cinelli
Almost four decades after introducing its historic EVA cork tape, a standard that set the industry benchmark for its balance between comfort and absorption, the Milanese brand revisits this concept with a completely renewed collection. This move comes alongside the recent push of its bike range, where models like the Aeroscoop have redefined its commitment to aerodynamic performance.
The new collection not only brings back its classic references but also introduces specific developments to meet the current needs of cycling, where specialization by discipline is increasingly pronounced. In this context, two clearly differentiated new families emerge, one focused on gravel and the other aimed at maximum performance on the road.

The Gravel Travel is designed as an option for long days off the asphalt. Cinelli focuses here on a higher density construction and a thickness of 3.2 mm that prioritizes vibration absorption on uneven terrain. It incorporates gel with the ability to readjust even after installation, a practical detail for those fine-tuning ergonomics on long rides. Its suede-like finish, completely washable, reinforces the focus on comfort during intensive use. Within this same line, the Chubby variant appears, which increases the amount of gel to offer an extra level of cushioning.

On the opposite end is the Pro Race, designed for more competitive use. In this case, Cinelli reduces weight and profile with a construction based on polyurethane and microfibers, seeking a more direct feel on the handlebars. The goal is to maximize control and grip, supported by a three-dimensional texture that improves hold during intense efforts. This range also maintains the characteristic aesthetic component of the brand with collaborations such as that of artist Mike Giant.
Alongside these new products, the brand keeps its most recognizable options in the catalog. The Classic Road Cork retains the original formula with cork and EVA, offering a balance between absorption and natural feel, while the Cork Gel version adds an extra layer of cushioning without excessively penalizing volume.

The launch reinforces Cinelli's identity as a brand that combines heritage and innovation. In the words of its president, Victor Luis, the intention has been to recover a key product in the history of cycling and update it with current materials, maintaining a focus on comfort, performance, and design.
