"The hardest climb in the world": Hannah Otto faces Mauna Kea in Infinite Pursuit
The SCOTT cyclist Hannah Otto stars in “Infinite Pursuit,” a documentary focused on her attempt at an FKT record on Mauna Kea, a climb that many consider the toughest in the world.
Hannah Otto faces Mauna Kea in “Infinite Pursuit,” one of the toughest challenges in cycling
It is almost 89 kilometers of uninterrupted ascent from sea level to nearly 4,300 meters in altitude, with more than 4,100 meters of accumulated positive elevation gain. The difficulty is especially concentrated in the final stretch, where the slopes exceed 20% and the terrain changes to loose gravel, adding a decisive technical and physical factor.
Beyond the numbers, the focus of the documentary highlights something different. Otto does not frame the attempt solely as a race against the clock, but as a personal evolution within her journey in endurance cycling, after more than two decades of competition.
