The Giro 2026 is taking place today in the Dolomites with a stage designed to shake up the overall standings: schedules and how to watch
After several days in which Jonas Vingegaard has shown overwhelming superiority, the Giro enters its toughest test today with the considered queen stage of this edition. It will be only 151 kilometers, but accompanied by 5,000 meters of elevation gain and a succession of mythical climbs in the Dolomites that offer practically no respite.
Stage 19 Giro d'Italia 2026: Schedule and How to Watch
Stage 19 of the Giro d'Italia 2026 will start from Feltre at 12:30 PM and is expected to arrive at Piani di Pezzè (Alleghe) between 4:54 PM and 5:32 PM, depending on the race pace. Although the start presents relatively favorable terrain, the real battle will begin approximately 100 kilometers from the finish, when the peloton tackles the Passo Duran, Passo Coi, and Forcella Staulanza before facing the decisive final block formed by the Passo Giau, Passo Falzarego, and the grueling final climb to Piani di Pezzè.

The stage can be followed live and in full on Eurosport and HBO Max, as well as on associated platforms that broadcast the race.

The general classification seems to be on track for the Dane, who leads by 4:03 over Felix Gall and 4:27 over Thymen Arensman. However, a day like this always leaves the door open for unexpected crises, mechanical failures, or long-range attacks. More than the maglia rosa, the great battle is expected to be focused on the podium, with Gall, Arensman, and Jai Hindley separated by less than a minute.
The great judge of the day will be the Passo Giau, the Cima Coppi of this Giro at 2,233 meters above sea level and nearly ten kilometers at an average gradient of 9.4%. Even so, the race will not end there. After the Falzarego, there will be the explosive final climb to Piani di Pezzè, just 4.9 kilometers but at an average of 9.7%, with ramps reaching 15% and a final kilometer still above 11%.

The main question is whether Visma-Lease a Bike will regain control of the race to seek a fifth stage victory for Vingegaard or if they will allow room for a breakaway of climbers. In that second scenario, names like Giulio Ciccone, Enric Mas, Einer Rubio, Wout Poels, Damiano Caruso, or Jhonatan Narváez emerge, riders still looking to leave their mark in the mountains.
Behind the battle for the maglia rosa, there will also be other open fronts. Afonso Eulálio defends a fifth place that seems threatened by Derek Gee and Michael Storer, while Davide Piganzoli continues to close in on the lead of the young riders' classification still held by the Portuguese.

On paper, it is the toughest stage of the entire Giro 2026. And although Vingegaard has shown few signs of weakness so far, the Dolomites are often the stage where grand tours change forever. Today we will find out if this edition still holds a surprise or if the Dane definitively seals the race.
