The Giro 2025 delays its presentation due to doubts about its starting location
Initially scheduled for November 12, the presentation of the route of the Giro d'Italia 2025 has been postponed until January 13 without the organization giving any explanations. Rumors point to logistical and economic problems with the organization of the first three stages in a Corsa Rosa that had proposed an unprecedented start in Albania.
Uncertainty looms over the grand start of the Giro d'Italia 2025 in Albania
Just a few days ago, with less than a week left for the official presentation of the first grand tour of the 2025 season, the Giro d'Italia announced the indefinite delay of said presentation. An event that now has a new date, specifically January 13.
The fact that RCS, the organizer of the Giro d'Italia, has not given any explanation has sparked rumors of all kinds pointing to problems with the start of the race, which will take place in Albania, specifically in its capital, Tirana, on May 9.

However, rumors suggest a series of logistical and economic setbacks between RCS and the Albanian government although, as the Albanian prime minister stated on RAI, negotiations are ongoing and both parties are willing to stick to the initially planned schedule.
In any case, the problems would only affect the Albanian stages, with the rest of the route already fully defined. From what has been leaked, it seems that there will be 2 time trials, a finish in Bormio after descending the Stelvio, and a penultimate stage ending in Sestriere, with Rome once again being the culmination of the race for the third consecutive year. If the 2025 edition of the Giro d'Italia cannot start as planned, RCS apparently has an alternative plan in place that would move the start of the race to the island of Sicily according to some sources.
An edition in which none of the current three great Grand Tour riders have ruled out their presence, even though initial impressions suggested that the current champion, Tadej Pogacar, would choose La Vuelta in 2025 instead of the Giro to complete his palmares. In any case, both he and Remco Evenepoel have stated that they are waiting for the route to be revealed before making a decision on their participation in the Italian race.
