The EU imposes new tariffs on e-bikes from China
Electric bikes are also not exempt from the obstacles that the European Union imposed on electric vehicles produced in China, which have just been extended and expanded by the European Commission with the argument of safeguarding the 12,000 jobs that the electric bicycle industry is estimated to have on the continent.

Importing Chinese ebikes a bit more complicated
For the EU, electric bicycles are a key player in the ecological transition and sustainable mobility within the Union. Therefore, after analyzing the anti-dumping measures that had been established to tax the import of electric vehicles from China, the EU has decided to expand these measures.
The main argument is based on the fact that bicycle production in China benefits from unfair subsidies that make it impossible for their European counterparts to compete against them on equal terms. Therefore, in 2019, anti-dumping duties ranging from 10.3% to 70.1% and countervailing duties ranging from 3.9% to 17.2% were established.

The continuity of these measures has not been well received by the entire European bicycle sector as many brands have their production in China and are therefore affected by these duties. These anti-dumping measures are extended for another 5 years.
